It's Sunday. I don't feel like cooking. To hell with it. We'll have Chinese delivered. Hey, it's always good, and tomorrow I will just have to dive into the stock market to find a way to pay for it as I always do. Boy, the guy who answered the phone to take my order sure had a rough go of things, though. "Wash yu phonnumber?" I gave it to him and he got the number wrong. I tried again. He still couldn't get it. "Wash you addret?" I gave it to him. He got that wrong too. The street name. I gave it to him again. "Spell it." I spelled it. I had to repeat the spelling twice. Finally, he got it. "Okay. Wash yu wan?" If all goes well we'll get our food in 45 minutes...or someone else a couple of streets over which is the street name he gave me back first will have a wonderful Chinese dinner that was unplanned.

Sounds like one of those Sundays where taking a break from cooking is absolutely justified. I love taking a break once in a while especially during holiday season. Ordering Chinese food always feels like a small reward, especially when you’re not in the mood to cook. Telling yourself you’ll sort it out in the stock market tomorrow makes it even funnier. The phone call, though, sounds like a real test of patience. Misunderstandings over phone numbers and addresses can be real frustrating. At least you stayed calm and worked through it step by step. Not sure how many have the patience to do the same. Spelling the street name twice is dedication in itself. Hopefully everything made it through correctly in the end. Enjoy your Sunday!

I love chinese food and haven't had any in so long. I used to get it a lot where I used to live. I got it once a few months ago, the first time in almost 4 years! That picture looks so yummy. Even some people that speak English don't get it right. Did you get your food?

Did you get your food? In the beginning of our travels to the US I had a hard time with the spelling, US spelling is different from British spelling, I always got the letter Z wrong.

That's where online ordering for that restaurant would come in handy - no translation issues.
