Procrastination at Its Best

I leave very early tomorrow morning for a long vacation at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It's something the family does every year to ring in the new year. So, having done this for many, many years, you'd think I'd be an expert at packing and preparing for the trip.
Yet, here I sit, at the computer playing on myLot, when I should be packing and getting ready for vacation. Nothing is packed, I haven't done any shopping for food and snacks on the trip, and I haven't even cleaned or tidied up the house.
It's a major case of procrastination. And knowing how I operate, tonight when my eyes are heavy and I'm about to fall asleep, I will force my self into hyperdrive and throw everything together at the last second.
I'm not a procrastinator, so I don't know why I'm struggling today to get everything ready for the trip.
Are you a procrastinator, or do you like to be prepared well in advance?
Photo is of my daughter and I on a day trip to Disney World a few months ago. We are the two people on the flume who are praying. I'm praying now that I get the motivation to start packing! lol

I like your picture!
You sound like me. I am a big procrastinator when it comes to doing things for trips. I pack at the last minute, and I leave things out of order until I scramble at the last minute.
You’re going to have such a great time!

I'm usually packed and ready well in advance, but I just have no motivation today.
Whenever we go on rides that take photos, we try to do funny or unique poses. My favorite action photo is one that was taken on this very same ride, but many years earlier, and unfortunately I don't have the photo anymore. But I took a newspaper on the ride with me, and handed out pages to everyone in the log boat. I told everyone to pretend they were reading the newspaper when we went down the big drop. I didn't think anyone would do it, but our entire boat participated in the gag. It was the coolest photo ever, seeing everyone in the photo reading the newspaper on the big drop.

@AmbiePam It was! It was the first and only time I've ever been able to get a complete group of strangers to cooperate with me on one of my gag photos. I have a printed copy of the photo somewhere, probably buried in a box, but the digital copy has long since disappeared. Or at least I haven't been able to find it.

I'm usually packed two or three days before we leave for a trip. The gas tank is full the day before the trip and snacks or places to eat have been selected. I urge Pretty to get things ready for herself the day before the trip. I WILL leave her behind if she's not ready and had to prove that once when she didn't get ready early. I proved it to her mom once, too.

@DaddyEvil Oh, we'll leave on time, I will make sure of that. I may forget half the stuff I need to bring with me, but we'll be on time!
Timing is of the essence when we leave in the morning, because we'll be driving south 1.5 hours to Disney, and my son will be driving 3 hours north to Disney, so we have to try and time it so we all arrive at the same time. We've pretty much got it down to a science. lol

It's funny, as much as I'm procrastinating today, I will be the first one ready tomorrow morning, and nagging the girls to hurry up and get ready so we can go.
...and I still haven't gotten off my butt to start packing today.

We are twin. I remember that one time I had to go to the restroom because even my underwear was soaked.

For some reason, I seem to be a magnet for getting wet on rides, even if all the other riders stay completely dry. It never fails that I am always the one person who gets completely soaked!

@RasmaSandra it did end up raining on Saturday at Disney, but we were prepared for it and it didn’t slow us down at all. We still had lots of fun.

Happy New Year to you as well!
We keep checking the weather in the Disney area every couple of hours to make sure there aren't drastic forecast changes. Tomorrow will be a cold one in the land of the Big Mouse, but most of the other days should be pretty mild or not too cold. I'm not liking what I see at the tail end of our vacation, we might have a rainy day on Saturday. The percentage chances keep going up every time I look at the forecast.

@noni1959 Not only do I have to try to plan clothes for the daily temperature differences, but also proper clothes for changing temps DURING each day. On several of the days, it's going to start off really cold in the morning, then get really hot in the afternoon, and then get cold again in the evening. It's hard to dress appropriately when the weather is all over the place.

I think the reason I am procrastinating is because our weather temps are going to be all over the place on this long trip, so I have to pack for freezing cold, mild, and blazing hot temps. Which means I have to pack way more than normal. I hate it. It's so much easier when you know the temps will be constant.
On rides where we know they'll take photos, we always try to do funny poses. My daughter came up with the idea to pretend we were praying.

@moffittjc That was funny to see. When I first saw the photo, I said that had to be you two.
That can be so hard to figure out. I live in the PNW and it's even cranky here lately.

I like to be prepared but sadly procrastinate a lot when time draws near for something.

I'm the same way. I like to be prepared, and in my head I will have a mental list of everything that needs to get done. And in my mind I envision myself getting it all done days in advance of the actual trip. But in reality, I almost always end up waiting until the last minute to actually do all the stuff that is on my mental checklist.

I’m not a procrastinator when it comes to packing for a trip. One simple reason: I have medications I have to take with me, so they have to be packed before the clothes are! Oh, and I keep an “overnight” bag always packed just in case I decide to run up to Cincinnati or down to Nashville for a day.

@moffittjc — I did ask my doctor if I could stop by a VA hospital if I forgot or ran out of medicines. Thankfully, that’s covered.

For me, any medications I am taking always seem to be the last thing on my mind, and there have been many trips where I have left and forgot to grab my medications. It can be frustrating when you have to turn around and go back to get the medications, or worse try to convince a pharmacy somewhere that you need emergency refills because you forgot your pills!

I am not a procrastinator by any means, except for when it comes to packing for trips. And the funny thing is, when it's time to come home from a trip, I am usually the first person to have everything packed up and ready to go. But for some reason I can just never bring myself to pack early and in advance before leaving for a trip.

I did get it done, and in record time, because I won't let anything stop me from getting my vacation started on time, if not earlier!
I'm a real thrill-seeker when it comes to theme park rides, so I love every thrilling, challenging and scary ride out there. I'll admit I get scared/terrified on some of them, but to me that is all part of the thrill.

@just4him Oh goodness, you were probably terrified that entire time. It's probably a good thing that you don't ride roller coasters any more!

@moffittjc My best friend dared me one time, and told me I had to go on the roller coaster to go with her to Six Flags near Chicago. My kids were little. It was me and my daughter along with her and her daughter. I got on the first roller coaster. I white knuckled the bar and as soon as it started I screamed to the end. I was grateful it didn't last long. My daughter was still in line and said she heard me. My friend told me I turned 30 shades of green and told me I didn't need to go on any more roller coasters. I was grateful.

I was coming back from New Jersey on Dec. 30th. Yeah I was procrastinating packing back up to come home. Everyone was wanting to come home and I didn't want to repack. I want to go to Disney again so badly. Chris said, as he left my house, about going to Disney.

I don't usually procrastinate about packing when I'm leaving a vacation to head home, but I do often procrastinate about leaving to head back home. I'll be packed and ready to go, and then find every excuse in the world why we have to stay and do "one more thing" before we leave to head home!

@moffittjc Yeah I really would have liked to stay, but my best friend, my cousin, and my mother wanted me home. Plus I needed to make doctor appointments. My mother and my cousin don't like Chris.

I'm like you, in my younger days I would procrastinate about everything. But now I am the exact opposite (except for packing for trips), I like to be well prepared, early, and ready to go.

I ALWAYS do things in advance and like to be early to appointments. My husband was the procrastinator; and it drove me crazy. When we had company coming, he would start cleaning around midnight when I was tired and wanted to go to bed. Have a great New Year's Eve.

@LindaOHio If I packed 2 weeks in advance, I would forget what I had packed and then dump everything out of the suitcases the night before and re-pack them just so I could make sure I didn't forget anything!

I am like you, I am always early to places or well prepared. If I get somewhere on time, to me it is actually being late. I like to be places at least 15 minutes early, if not earlier. But for some reason, when it comes to packing for trips, I always drag my feet and wait until the last second to do everything.
