Well that was weird

I was up early but eventually went back to bed. I was sound asleep and snuggled up in bed when I thought I heard the doorbell ring. I wasn't sure. Then I heard it again. As I untangled myself from the blankets there was like angry knocking on the door. I opened the door and was given a bag from DoorDash. I just accepted it and assumed that someone had sent me something. By the time I opened up the bag and saw that it was pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwiches the driver was long gone. Even the name on the receipt "Erica" wasn't one that I knew. There was no address or phone number on the receipt. I eventually just shrugged my shoulders, left it on the table, and went back to bed. Like 5 minutes later I get the doorbell ringing and angry knocking again. I got up, answered the door, and it was the guy saying he mistakenly delivered the food to me. No $hit. He wanted it back. I was happy to give it to him but explained that I had opened the bag so the seal was broken. He didn't care. Fine. I gave him the bag of food. It was literally for the next apartment over. I don't know how difficult it is to read the numbers on doors but apparently it is more difficult than you'd think. I have no beef with the neighbors (at least these ones) so they may have just eaten the food. If I were them, though, I wouldn't have and would have requested a refund. So now I'm up again. For now.

I wouldn't have accepted it if the seal was broken and would have asked for a refund, too.

He sounds like a good and proper jerk. When I use Doordash (mostly when I have a migraine) they are always delivering it to the person directly below me. Despite the instructions saying Building 2, TOP floor. Occasionally, they’ll send me a picture of it at the wrong building even. Now, I want a pork roll!

I’ve had that happen. DoorDash pulls into my driveway, rings the doorbell, takes a picture (with the wrong house number clearly visible), and starts to leave. I call them on the doorbell and say “Hey, wrong house!”

That delivery guy is doing a rotten job, Too bad he returned; you could have had breakfast. How did you and the cat crew sing in the New Year?

That was a rude awakening for you. Some Door Dash folks aren't the brightest.

I wouldn’t have accepted the food if the seal was broken. As far as normal parcels are concerned it is sadly commonplace here for drivers to leave parcels randomly ….even though they have to take photos to prove the parcel has been delivered, they are not supposed to have the persons face in the photo …..makes little sense to me ….so on fb or neighbourhood watch site we constantly have photos with the added question …” do you recognise this front door ?”

Perhaps the driver partied too much last night and could not read the numbers this morning. I guess once it is out of your house and hands the recipients can do as they choose with the food.
