Wolf Moon

This is what the moon looked like in Oklahoma last night. My dad’s wife took this picture, and said the news stated it is called a Wolf Moon. I sure thought it was pretty. Do you often take a look outside after dark? I don’t, but Diana loves nature like I rarely see.

The picture is beautiful. But why is the moon called the wolf moon tonight?

@AmbiePam I believe it has to do with what Native Americans called the moons and what was happening in that season. It is winter and the wolves are getting hungry.

The first full moon of January is just always called the Wolf Moon.

WOW!! It looks wonderful. I have never seen wolf moon. There was a time when I would look at the sky at night. Those were the nights when the sky was studded with stars. Now the sky at night looks dark. I have not seen a starry night for many years.

That is kind of surprising, but I guess a lot of places are like that.

@AmbiePam This is because of industrial plants. They cover the clear, blue sky with smoke and stars become invisible.

We were driving home between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. It was gorgeous. The sky was inky dark blue and the moon was a beautiful huge peach color. Usually I only see stuff if I am taking out trash.

I like looking at the moon--especially when there's something "special" about it. God has created some beautiful things!

We're not often outside once it gets dark. On the farm, we didn't really need to draw the curtains but we have to here.

That looks neat. I have seen moons like that befire. When I was working the election and was out and about early in the morning I saw a beautiful Harvest. moon.

Yes, but since we move to a condo-style apartment, I haven't seen it since we don't have a window that can peek at the sky.

I did not look out of the window, but I was sure there was a full moon because I could see the forest looking through the shutters tonight.

No, we can't really see the sky. Too many trees in the way. *shrug*

It's too cold this time of year to go out just for the moon.

Very mysterious; I have not searched for the moon lately.

Nice picture. I don't look outside much at night.
