Still here for a few hours

Lunch arrived. Hooray! It obviously wasn't amazing but after not eating for 2+ days I happily dug in. I could only eat about half of what they gave me but that is good enough. At least my stomach stopped rumbling. Then the doctor arrived. He mentioned the low platelet thing and said he thought that I should be seen by a hematologist before I am discharged. He said "you're going to be here for a few more hours anyway". So it sounds like I'll be sleeping in my own bed tonight. The cats will be thrilled. But again--once the magnesium drip is done and there are no plans to draw blood again. . . why would I still be here for a few hours? Whatever. I will sleep well tonight since I got barely any last night. At least if I'm out of here.

I’m glad you’re seeing a hematologist. Now, if they’d only send three more specialists. We want you checked out head to toe!

That’s scary, but I’m glad they want to send you to a hematologist.

the nurse just scared the $hit out of me. She was looking at my chart and said that we were waiting on a hemotologist and oncologist. I almost fainted. Then she said that they usually share the same office.

@NJChicaa I ran into that puzzling combo with both my husband and my older sister. In her case, and as was explained to me, and oncologist has to be a hematologist first in order to deal with some of the various blood cancers. With my husband it was specifically that they wanted to completely rule out any kind of a blood disease.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been in the hospital and I hope that you will be discharged soon. Sounds like it's been quite the ordeal.

Hopefully you can sleep in your home tonight after being discharged from the hospital.
