An ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis

This story broke just before I was discharged from the hospital so there wasn't much information about it. I can't say there still isn't much information about it. ICE immediately put out a statement saying that the victim was trying to drive into agents, ram, and kill them. The whole thing seemed very fishy. Why would the agency put out a statement almost immediately without doing a modicum of investigation? Kristi Noem called the victim "a domestic terrorist" and cited law enforcement's right to shoot and kill people when they feel like their lives are in imminent danger. The whole thing seemed canned and pre-planned. I knew there had to be a lot of video footage of it--from bystanders, Ring cameras, neighborhood surveillance cameras, etc. I had a very strong suspicion that it would contradict the DHS/ICE version of events. All I could think of was that horrific surveillance video of the murder of Tyree Nichols in 2023. Turns out at least 2 videos have been released or posted or whatever. The victim was a 37 year old unarmed white woman who was observing an ICE enforcement action. When her car was approached she slowly backed up to do a K-turn to leave the area. An ICE agent then shot her in the head and killed her. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem's explanation of events just doesn't seem to hold water. The woman was BACKING UP not driving forward into the agents. She was going just a few MPH which means that even if the approaching agents were in her path (narrator: they weren't) and felt they were in danger they could have simply walked out of the way. And she was trying to FLEE not attack. Yet one of these ignorant wannabe military morons had no hesitation in shooting her. Of course it is still *very* early and the full story won't be known for weeks or months but it feels like we've seen this disgusting story before. I tend to think that the ICE agent was completely in the wrong. Nothing about the DHS statement lines up with the couple of videos that have come out so far. People in that area of Minneapolis were already protesting the ICE presence in the city. Well they almost broke out in a riot. I did watch Dana Bash try to interview one of their correspondents in the area but they had to keep starting and stopping because the yelling and protests were so loud. I'm shocked that Trump hasn't already used this event to just bomb the city. We know he loves it so much and respects the rule of law. Police did shut it down pretty quickly though. You could hear the reporter again within 20-30 minutes. The mayor of Minneapolis had some harsh but true words: "Get the f--- out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite. People are being hurt, families are being ripped apart." Good for him.

That’s the last thing that city needed. The poor lady’s family…

I watched the videos. It looked like the agent just didn't like the woman driving away.

I hope the mayor is able to get the ICE agents out. This is a terrible tragecy.

I've watched the video twice. My take on it is that the poor woman was not armed and was trying to get away. Hopefully there will be more footage released soon.

What a pity. I'm glad the Mayor stood up and stated his opinions. I feel so sorry for the woman's family.
