What is happening to people?

It’s winter here in the northern hemisphere. Just like it has always been every year. And we have had some snow and freezing temperatures. None of this is unexpected. So what have things come to when the fact that some people have been slipping in the icy conditions, and a few of them have actually fallen over, makes the news? Have people today become so pathetically mollycoddled that they can't cope with slight variations in the weather? Come on people, this is called life, deal with it! @fleura People slipping on ice in mid winter? Surely not. Who should we sue? What baffles me is the number of kids who won’t go out to play in the snow, throw snowballs etc because it’s too cold! So many streets and parks covered in banks of snow and not a footprint on it. And Belfast Zoo closed because of the cold. The animals were still there and at large, but it was thought to be too cold for people. Anyway I don’t approve of zoos and they will be closed when I succeed to the throne.

Surely Western civilization is on its last legs. It just seems too much like the last days of the Roman Empire.

I also cannot understand the media warning all the time about the cold. When I was young winters were even colder and with a lot of snow.

When I was working, I HAD to be out in all weather and was careful about it. Now, I stay inside if there's a hit of ice or snow and reschedule anything I'm supposed to do that takes me outside in bad weather. A broken bone or even a bone bruise isn't fun once you get older.

People expect everything even nature to coddle them anymore. Mother nature does not care

Some call our state a 'nanny state'. Sometimes I think the authorities give us credit for no commonsense whatsoever. They're probably not far wrong! lol

I guess it depends on who slipped and fell... I saw a clip on FB yesterday of an ICE agent slipping on frozen water while chasing someone...

I guess some people get mad when the weather gets cold and slippery.

The thing that gets me is the drivers. They live in NE Ohio...we get a LOT of s**w and bad weather...they should know how to drive in bad weather; but they still speed and crash.

I know, when I lived in MN I expected that people there would be used to snowy conditions, more than here in the UK where winter weather is very variable, so I was surprised when, at the start of every winter, people would be crashing and driving into ditches all over the place!

@Fleura Surprised that you lived in MN. Were you born in the UK? Yes, on s**w days, there are countless people that slide off the freeway into the median.
