All in the Family

During our annual family vacation to Disney World over Christmas and New Years, my son came down with a nasty cold. Although he didn't feel well, he was such a trooper and didn't let it ruin his vacation.
Upon returning home, I felt like the rest of us dodged a bullet in catching his cold, because we all seemed healthy still. I shouldn't have been so naive, since we were all staying in the same hotel suite. So, one by one, we started falling like dominos. First, my girlfriend. Then my daughter, and now, as of today, I seem to have caught the bug as well.
I hate being sick, and I hate being around other people who are sick, but in this case it's all in the family, so we're all miserable together. I've been loading up on OJ, vitamins and other immunity-building foods/drinks, and hope we can wipe this virus out quickly. I feel like I still haven't recovered fully from when I was sick back in November. But what can you do? Just power through it I guess.
How are all of you feeling? Anybody else out in myLot land sick?
Photo is my son and his girlfriend on the Haunted Mansion ride at Magic Kingdom. He unfortunately had to blow his nose at the worst possible time...right when the ride photo was taken! I blame the hitchhiking ghost for getting everyone sick!

Your son wasn't sick... He just didn't want his picture taken with any of you!
Nope, we're both feeling fine. But we still wear masks if we go outside the house and wouldn't go to an amusement park when the whole country seems to be coming down with flu or Covid.

You’re not kidding when you say the whole country is sick right now. Even at work everybody was sick…my co-workers and all the customers. So I guess there was no way to avoid getting sick other than hiding under a rock!

@DaddyEvil Nah, I don’t think masks are as effective bad everyone thinks they are.

Being sick is no fun. My brother and his fam went on vacation and came back sick.

When you immerse yourself into large crowds of people from all over the world, it’s hard not to catch something. At least that was the issue in my case. Where did your brother go on vacation?

@lovebuglena Ooh, that's a wonderful place! I've been there a few times. I'd love to go back. We've been talking about going on a Caribbean cruise, we're thinking maybe in 2027. It's a lot of money to take the whole family (we'd do a 7-day cruise), so we need to save up for it.

Thank you. I know you can empathize, given what you have recently gone through (although what you went through was worse than my cold I have now). I'm glad you are doing better after three weeks.

@just4him Thank you. I think right now I am the least sick out of all of us. I started taking Zicam as soon as I saw my son wasn’t feeling good.

They are saying this super flu is really bad all over the world. I even read that it has been particularly bad in Australia, as well as here in North America.

@JudyEv It wouldn’t hurt for him to wear a mask. Better safe than sorry.

@moffittjc Vince is going to Thailand in a few weeks. I'm start to badger him about wearing a mask when he's in a crowd.

I hope everyone starts to feel better soon. I don't go out much and haven't been sick. Knock on wood.

We're calling this illness the "Disney crud," because we all got sick at Disney, or shortly thereafter. But that's always the chance we take when we visit a crowded place full of people from all over the world. I would think that by now I would have immunity of steel after being exposed to so many viruses from around the world! lol

@LindaOHio It's sad, but I really do spend too much time there. And--if I'm feeling better--I will be at Epcot on Saturday for the start of the Festival of the Arts! My son won a bet amongst us family members that gives him $300 to spend on Disney art, so I'm excited to see what he buys this weekend.

@MarieCoyle I’ve got a brand new box of saltines sitting in my pantry, just for all us sick people to munch on.

The very two things I stocked up on last night at the grocery store! Tons of chicken soup and lots of tea!

It must be a Disney thing.
The day we came back from Disneyland at the end of November my oldest niece started feeling badly. Two days later, all of them were sick. One day after that, and I was a goner. It took over two weeks to completely recover. It was miserable. But thinking about Disney did make it better!

@AmbiePam Nothing will stop me from going to Disney World! Well, except for when they shut down the theme parks for Covid. But as soon as they opened back up, I was right there ready to go! I'm pretty confident that my first bout of Covid was caught at Disney, but I didn't let that stop me from going back again and again!

I'm sure we all got sick from our time at Disney World, around thousands of people from all over the world, but even if we did not get sick there, I noticed that everywhere I go here in my community that everyone seems to be sick. So one way or another, it was bound to happen with so many sick people around.

Lol! My family caught a virus the last week of November. I am glad that we are all ok before December ends.
I really hate being sick, aside from it is costly, medicine is expensive, I hate the feeling of being unwell and feeling hopeless as you can't magically took the fever, flu and cold at once.

You are correct, medicine is very expensive. I hate being sick too. Not only is it costly, but you feel horrible, and often times you have to stay out of work while you recover.
I was sick in November as well, and finally started feeling better right before the end of December (right before Christmas).

That’s right, call Morgan and Morgan! If you got sick from going to Disney World with your family, you may be entitled to compensation. (Not likely, but “may.”
)
I always recommend Zicam (or the Walmart equivalent) zinc product for helping. It’s always helped me get better…even with COVID!
Get well quickly. All of you!!!

I hope we get better quickly as well. I have to travel to Orlando next Saturday for an event, and my son and I have a camping trip coming up in a few weeks.
I noticed that everyone is sick everywhere I go...work, shopping, parks, events, etc., so if I had not gotten sick at Disney I probably would have caught it from someone else right here in my own community. Damn those winter viruses!

Cute picture. I feel fine. I did feel terrible in December. Chris got me some cold and flu medicine which help somewhat. He didn't get sick.

I was sick really bad in November, and then mildly sick in December, and now really sick again here in January. My poor immune system has really taken a beating the last three months.
