Make A Plan Instead.

Do you worry about things that might happen before they happen? It is human to worry, but does it help. You may have an important doctor's appointment and can't help worrying about the outcome - would worrying change that outcome? The year 2026 has just started which means another hurricane season is just around the corner. Will we have another devastating storm this year like Melissa in 2025? . Maybe, maybe not, we can never be abosolutely sure about some outcomes. So instead of worrying make a plan. A plan to deal with whatever adverse situations might arise. Who knows - you might never have to use that plan. What do you think? Pixabay image.

Yes, I am a worrier and no, worrying usually doesn't help once you've saved enough extra money for any contingencies that could happen. (Thankfully, insurance will usually cover things you can't save enough money to cover.) Plans are all well and good but what do you do if you aren't home when the situation you planned for happens and your plan is based on you being home when it happens? Some things are not up to us no matter how many plans you make. You just ride it out and hope for the best. That doesn't stop me from worrying about things, though. Neither does Pretty griping about me worrying.

@Kandae11 Pretty is always telling me to stop worrying but I can't help it. That's the way my brain works. I worry about things. *shrug*

What you said makes perfect sense. There are times when plans might not be the answer - especially when money is needed to implement those plans - and you have none.

I always play worst-case scenario. What could possibly go wrong? Then, 99% of the time, I'm surprised that things don't go wrong. I don't know if that's the best way to approach life, but that's how I do it.

On any occasion that l must go to the doctor for a test, l would prepare myself for the worst. I tell myself that if the results turn out to be the worst - then it won't hit me that hard.

Hey!!! It's been a while, glad to bump into one of your posts today. God bless. Before, yes, but years ago, it reminds me that if there is something I cannot control, that's not my problem, that's God's problem. So when my doctor told me he suspected that I had a brain tumor, and I know I have no money for all the procedures, I did not go back after a few test, and I just told God that, if He gave me something that I cannot control I just gave it back to Him and solve it for me, because He is my God and He the best doctor ever. I don't want my family to suffer from all the finances that I need, and then leave them because we all know only a few people survive cancer, and that was a decade ago, and I am still alive until now, and that's all thanks to Jesus, my Lord and Savior. If I worry, I just bring it back to Him... and tell Him I don't want to stress myself for something that I don't have the power to solve. And it is fine with Him. My days are more peaceful and less worried. And I like it.

@Kandae11 When we have faith, it is easy to live. I am a living proof of that. But above all adversary, I can really attest that having God in our lives, we will never be disappointed, even though at first things are really messy. To Christ be the glory.

Well said. I have found that when you live in certain countries and receive an average income, it is harder to take care of one's medical expenses. I too believe that God is the greatest doctor - he has proved it over and over.. but l still worry ...

I do tend to worry about things I have control over {bad weather being one of them} I try to be prepared just in case but half the time I worry for nothing.

It is human to worry, but sometimes we overdo it.

Plans can be helpful. It's hard not to worry sometimes. For some things, it helps me to say 'This time tomorrow/next week' it will all be over. But you're right. Worrying doesn't help.

@Kandae11 I think what also helps is that, once I think that, I start to work out where I'll be at that time and it distracts me from the present.

My Dad used to say 'Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.' If you have a plan then at least you are ready and with luck, you won't need it.
