Bourbon Bacon Jam

United States

Happy Tuesday Everyone! sunshine (yay) and temps pretty decent around 50 degrees F. Will definitely enjoy today because the weather changes once again tomorrow into Thursday. Gotta love winter!! (not) I'll start this by saying that one of my favorite brands for jam is Stonewall Kitchen. Years ago I got a gift basket from my Aunt & Uncle and it included jam in addition to lots of other goodies. Since then I've looked forward to enjoying their jams and have been talking about trying their Bourbon Bacon Jam but it was a little pricey and I hated to pay for the shipping. Well, I got a jar of it for Christmas and now I have to figure out what I want to do with it. I tasted it and it's really good but not something I'd want on toast, etc. Googled the best way to use bourbon bacon jam and they had lots of good ideas. I think the first way I'm going to try it is on burgers. Sounds good to me and we'll be having burgers probably over the weekend. Have you ever had bourbon bacon jam or have you made it yourself? I know some of myLotters do make their own jam. If you've had it, what's the best way you enjoy it?

I have Bacon Jam in my cupboard, but I’ve never tried it. Bourbon bacon jam sounds delicious. Putting it on a hamburger is a great idea. I know this might be too similar to toast, but how about putting it on an Everything Bagel. Would that be different enough from toast? Probably not. You’ve got to let us know how it tastes on a burger!

Maybe on an everything bagel would be good, I certainly have enough to give it a try It just sounded different and good even though I had no idea it wasn't really a jam for toast so I'll have to see how it tastes on my burger instead of good old reliable ketchup.

I have never tried but would like to. Could you put the jam on pancakes or waffles? Maybe even little muffins or better yet - Ribs. I would like to hear how it taste on hamburgers if you try it.

@Marilynda1225 Ok, I will be watching. With a savory taste it is probably better on meats than pancakes or waffles.

From what I've read it's more of a savory taste and probably would go very well with ribs, burgers (maybe pork chops). I'm sure you can use it on anything including pancakes & waffles. I'll definitely post about it again when I actually try it on my burgers and whatever else I come up with

I don’t eat meat but even without the bacon it doesn’t sound good to me. Something mg husband may like though.

I hope it's good. I've been wanting to try it for awhile even though it's not my usual choice for a jam/jelly

I've never heard of it, let alone tried to make it. We do still have some jams I've made even though I've given the bulk of them away. I know there's still some blackberry, plum and strawberry (my favorite) in the kitchen cabinets. (I really didn't experiment with odd jam flavors.)

I was hoping someone here would have either made it or tried it and could give me some ideas as to what it's good on, in or with. Making jam or jelly has never been something I've ever tried. The ones you have in your kitchen cabinet sound really good. I do love a good jam even though I don't eat it very often.

@Marilynda1225 Pretty eats the jam flavors that aren't interesting to me and buys others she thinks sound good. I've mostly stopped eating jam/preserves since I need to watch my sugar intake. She buys all kinds of little, expensive jars of jam and our fridge has them in every corner.

I think it's more savory rather than sweet. Guess time will tell when I try it

I do enjoy the seasons but winter is a rough one to get through. I've never had this but it sounds like something I would like to try sometime.
