Here is an update for anyone interested

So last time I was here I think we were between holidays
So off we went in early August.
Came back sorting of mid October
Yvonne got ill about 18th October
Hospitalised, it didn't look good
I stayed in a hotel near the hospital for 5 days until she started to recover
Strep Pneumonia and another bug
Needed Oxygen
Recovered
Weaned off Oxygen
Discharged into my care 6th November
Carried on with hospital routine for meals and meds and everything else
She is not to be out of the house until temperatures rise
I have to wear a mask when I am out.
People visiting don't get in if they won't wear a mask.
Her O2 saturations are back up at about 95%
Steroids have been reduced
Her BP is normal again
Eating and sleeping well and moving around the house and garden ok
We had a great Xmas, nice New Year.
I turned 65 in December,
Our finances got a real boost the day off my birthday
We were not exactly poor but now we are doing even better.
Planning the holiday roster now for 2026 and maybe a new bike is on the cards.
I have driven only 106 miles since November 6th.
Hope you are all doing well.
Oh I have 5 coffee makers now

"49 years putting money away every month."
That's the way to do it, & when times get rough you have something
to fall back on to help you get through it.

We Scots are quite sensible with money.
We were taught from a very early age that saving money was good.
My piggy bank was my best ever teacher about money. Even at like 10 years old lol

Thanks Lena.
I'm glad as well,
April will soon be here and Yvonne will get out more as the temperature rises.
This is like lockdown for us, and we loved lockdown so it's all good,
Hope you and Lenny are doing ok?

So you had a very tough time with Yvonne being very ill.
It is appreciable that you were able to take great care of her.
Now it must be very relieving that she is much better now and your finances are also better, which is a great news.
So we can look forward for Jim of 2026 to be traveling more and sharing his travels !

I do hope that we are travelling more this year.
We did well last year..
We must have done.
The new yellow bike I posted about last May or June covered about 8k miles for us.

Thanks.
Yvonne is the most important person in my life and I was really scared this admission to hospital she had.
Without Yvonne things would be dismal and I don't think life would be worth living.
So things looking better for Yvonne is what drives me on

@Ineeddentures It doesn't matter how many coffee makers you have, you can only drink so much in a day!

Oh I bought a vintage Prestige Filter machine today.
I had 3kg of 10 years out of date ground coffee to use.
Yvonne went nuts.
She is doing well lol

True, but it's good having a variety of machines to deliver different types of coffee readily available

Yes. Thanks.
I think if we have another 18 months with no infections etc and no hospital admissions Yvonne will be doing ok

I have no idea what 100% looks like for Yvonne now
But I would say she looks quite healthy ,
Sleeping well, eating well, keeping herself busy, and no real coughing and her O2 saturations are better than mine!!

I hope so,
We had almost 2 years with no hospital admissions and Yvonne says another 2 years would be good before the next one.
We are not naive enough to think that there won't be more admisions

I'm so glad Yvonne has more or less recovered, I pray she remains well.
Happy New Year & Happy Birthday, so you're officially over the hill now.
Wow, 5 coffee makers .... no more excuses for old coffee, just line em up and have em perk up a pot when the first one expires ...... old coffee is good for the garden.
Oh, yes, we are doing well here.

Me too Eva.
I thought it was the end this time the first time I saw her in isolation in hospital.
I whispered in her ear that I thought she needed to get better quick and she nodded.
It looked like COVID was back.

It's good to be back.
I think Yvonne is recovering more and more everyday. Which is good.
Age is just a number lol and my number now is one I did not think I would ever see.
Certainly never looked at being 65 when I signed up here when I was 45.
69 doesn't seem far away for me now either, I might make it.

You have gone through a lot but have fought them back against the wall.
I was wondering too at your silence for months.
I am happy that Yvonne is on the road to full recovery with you chipping in to make things easy.
Hospitalization unnerves us with the anxiety thrown in
Hope 2026 will be a blast for you and Yvonne with the financial boost that landed on your birhday.

It was a struggle when Yvonne was hospitalised
But to be fair the last couple of years had been good for Yvonne.
When I saw the masks and the isolation room I was unnerved just a bit
She is doing ok now and I reckon by May she will be chomping at the bit for us to get the bike out and go touring and a bit of camping and a couple of caravan holidays too.
The money. thing is really weird.
We always lived frugally, and are still doing so.
The extra money won't change how we do things

Which will be posted about.

Aye.
She was doing ok but almost overnight it all changed.
She was maybe due a bad spell as she had been hospital free and in good health since Feb 2023
Thanks for the kind words
