Reading Challenge

The flu hit our house last Saturday. My husband and my little one came down with it about a day apart. She got hit the hardest. I came down with it a few days ago but didn’t get hit hard and am already feeling much better. During this time I’ve had a hard time sleeping and have been reading more. I finished a book that I stated in October of 2025. I just started another one that is very short and am half way through it. It’s about local ghost stories and I am very bored by it. I saw our local library system is doing a winter reading challenge so just signed my little one and I up. She won the summer one with over 1000 minutes read. This would be a county wide one not just for our little local library so I don’t expect to win but I figure it’ll be an incentive to get me reading more. Photo is unrelated and is just my Kitty being naughty.

The flu is really bad here, I’m sorry your family was sick. Kitty appears to be saying “ This is my house!”

@MarieCoyle it just is hanging on so long. It’ll be a week tonight since my little one came down with it. She’s still coughing and not feeling back to normal.

@MarieCoyle she woke up about a half hour ago saying her ear hurts. I’m thinking she may have her first ear infection . I’ll have to see how she feels in the morning. Tuesday she is supposed to go back thankfully they have off tomorrow.

@shaggin I know many people here that have had the flu recently are down for over a week. It appears to be a very bad strain. I hope she feels better soon!

I think kitty wants your attention. I don't read like I used to but want to get back into it. How is everyone feeling now? I was in the hospital with that Rhino virus and pneumonia. That was no fun at all.

Your Kitty is so cute, he seems to love that dollhouse. I am sorry the flu hit hard your house. I love to read and this is what I do when I do not arrive to sleep. 1000 hours read is a lot of time reading.

@LadyDuck I knew he would wind up sitting in it. He’s always jumping in any boxes we get. It was over 8 weeks in the summer she and I read over 1000 hours together. A few books at bedtime every night really added up.

@shaggin - I wonder why cats love so much to jump into boxes. I usually read one hour before sleeping, but to read 1000 hours in 8 weeks you need to read more or less 5 hours a day.

That is a huge doll house. I love it. I am doing the Goodreads challenge for 25 books this year and already at five. I'm bored with what I have found lately. I'm on the waiting list for the newest CJ Box book coming out. I love his Joe Pickett Series.

@noni1959 I am reading Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline. I’m only a few chapters in but I like it. The Goodread challenge sounds interesting! Two a month or so that would equal. Do you think you’ll read much more than the 25?

@shaggin I think I will read more than the 25, but gave myself grace with everything going on. I'll check this book out. I just added to my want to read on GoodReads. I picked up a few books at the thrift store but can't remember the titles. They are in the house but think I'll walk down to get one.

The kitty looks so cute! My oldest niece came down with the flu a couple of days ago. I don’t know how the rest of them will keep from getting it. The reading challenge sounds like fun.

@AmbiePam it’s been 6 days and both my little one and my husband are still sick. Every day I hope the following day they will wake up and be all better. I am mostly over it.

@Judyev she was so excited when Santa left it here for her. She was shocked he could fit it in his sleigh and get it in here. It was very heavy for Santa’s helpers.
