Another fail from the postal service. It never ends.

It's been a wild week.
I didn't realize until today that my driver's license has to be renewed by the end of the day tomorrow, and that's a Saturday. Usually, they send notices about it to remind us. I am sure they no doubt did send one, but it was probably delivered to someone else, or not delivered at all, because I never did receive it. Typical, oh so UNreliable mail service.
So, I am leaving shortly to run two errands and to renew it. I'm glad I remembered to look, I never thought of it but I always get it before my birthday if it's the year to be renewed, so I guess I just didn't think about our lovely postal service.
And I just can't wait to have them take an oh, so lovely picture of me.

Here some of these issues are decided by state government so the answers can be different from one state to another.

@MarieCoyle As we have no more borders among the EU states, all those concerns documents has been unified. Switzerland followed the EU guidelines for what concerns the driving license to avoid that Swiss citizens had to ask an International driving license to drive in the EU.

It must be different states and counties how one is notified about license. I've done my last two renewals and address changes online keeping the same photo with my dark hair of the time. Most likely, in a couple years, I'll have to go in. Usually, us old folk eventually have to prove we can see the road.

@MarieCoyle They will probably do that here before long. My son renewed his license online but wanted a new photo so drove the city today for his appointment to update it. He's lost a lot of weight since his last one. I may do an update this year since my hair and face has changed too.

I kept my same picture the last time, but the lady said that this year they were required to take new pictures of everyone. Here they do the vision tests for everyone, every renewal that you do in person. But that's a good thing...it only took about one minute to do that part. The main thing they want to do is to see that you have good peripheral vision.

We do change in appearance and it’s a good idea for us to look in person like our picture. When I lost all that weight a few years back, my facial features were different.

Once upon a time, mail was fast and they knew the meaning of speedy delivery and good service. Obviously, that's all gone now, which is truly a loss for many.

I know and its important to have a updated license in this country right now with the dictator in chief sending his Gestapo like minions to harass and threaten everyone to show them their papers. I made sure to get mine taken care of too and DMV told me same thing we need a new picture. They also fingerprinted me, I am like man, can't get away with murder anymore, unless you are Ice? Too soon,
I am glad you remembered too and also they are asking for each states voter records so they know who voted for Trump and who did not. California told them to screw off.

@MarieCoyle Very good point and yeah its a big mess. I never thought I would ever see the US like this. I could see corporate America running the whole government, but never thought we would just become like every other country that had these problems and all those empires fell.

They took a new picture of me but that's the usual now. We don't get fingerprinted and they asked nothing else other than the standard stuff--take a60 second eye test and I was done!
If who we vote for has to be public, then why are we still going to ''voting booths'' to vote? No sense being secretive if it's no secret.
What a big mess we're in.

I think George has another two years, we've never got renewal notices ever. Except the one for the sticker thing on the tag. I remember one time, George's licience had expired, both of us never noticed until he tried to show it at the bank. The agent was kind of rude when she let us know but needless to say all erronds were cancled and we spent the day at the dmv. Now I'm always checking and re-checking the dates because I don't want George driving with an expired tag, or licience or anything.

Here in Illinois we can, too. but you have to have a PIN number they send you in the mail. I renewed it online last time, but the info I have to have to renew it never arrived. Ugh.

We don't get license reminders at all. I have it marked on my calendar each year. Even though I don't drive anymore, I will get it renewed. I'm glad you got yours done!
