Not able to contact the bank

Today is a holiday, Martin Luther King day. So, although I have the day off, no one is at the bank. For those not in the know it is because of a malfunction on my debit card. I have pinned down where the problem likely originated, which cash register. Funny thing, two or more years ago hubby had a debit card from our other bank account get compromised in the same general location. There is a filling station, convenience store and a Subway restaurant all in one connected set up. I used my debit card on Friday at the Subway when Jane and I went and visited and ordered meals. She always orders in the app and pays online. I do not. This little group of businesses is right across the street and in the general neighborhood of a small, private college. I wonder if that makes it more vulnerable, or if not very ethical college students have anything to do with it. I would not think so, it is a Christian college. Anyway, I will be talking to the bank tomorrow, while I wait for Bob and his stress test at the cardiologist.

It was a bank holiday, Federal Holiday here. Turns out I was wrong about the source of the problem. It is all fixed now.

I hate to be cynical but I wonder if a Christian college would be much different to any other. Certainly here it wouldn't be much as we might like to think it would be.

Some are, some are not. I went to a Christian College, we were much more strict/moral whatever than another Christian College in the same town. They do attract extra people to town as visitors etc. as well. However I was wrong about what happened on my card. I have an Amazon Prime yearly subscription and the bank flagged it as fraud. They locked my card.

@GardenGerty I must say that US citizens seem much more likely to be church-goers than Australians. I should try to find some statistics for each country. I've been away for three days so I hope all is well with your card now. I've just about caught up with notifications but not with discussions.

I was kind of wrong to point fingers at it being a college town, because the problem was not what I thought it was. It was a yearly charge on my account that flagged it for some reason. It did not flag it last year. Yeah, not all Christians, Buddhists, or Mormons are ethical, or any other person. And not all college students are unethical. I jumped to conclusions about this.

I think a lot of people forgot it was a holiday today. George was complaining about kids being off school because there were no school busses to look at.

Yeah, I knew I was not working. Professional development day for teachers, but it is also a holiday and I forgot that.

The bank thing was not fraud after all. They blocked it suspecting fraud and my phone call fixed it. Bob was tired from his test.

Since it was locked I knew it was secure. I had cash on hand if needed and Bob's card worked. It was an easy fix though.

It was an easy fix. They did not recognize a charge that was my own and blocked it for safety reasons. I jumped to a worst case scenario.

Thanks for reminding me about MLK day, I totally forgot about it I prefer to do things online because it seems to be much safer that way. If you have online banking you could check if anyone has tried to use your card and if so you can lodge a dispute.

I never finished setting it up with either bank that I use, and I should. It was not someone else, but a charge of my own that they flagged and blocked it for.

Me either. It is not really celebrated around here and there is always a teacher's professional development day on that Monday.
