Good News and bad news

January 21, 2026 6:43pm CST
Good news and bad news. The good news is that I found my mislaid spectacles. Yay for me. The bad news was that they were on the bedroom floor and the only reason I found them was because I stood on them. And broke them beyond repair. But at least I found them. Win some, lose some. Or on this occasion both. How good is that Oh well never mind. Have you ever had any good news bad news scenarios like this one?

Yes and the same thing as yours, my glasses. I was in an accident and when I got out of the truck my glasses fell out. Guess what I did. Yes when I stepped out I stepped right on them.

Bummer. I maybe should get contact lenses. Surely I couldn't break them

Are the lens still good? You may find an identical frame, the higher cost is always for the lens.

@LadyDuck I know what you mean. It's a complete rip off but they know we will pay just so we can see the world properly. Without them I wouldn't be able to drive

Yes. I was looking all over for my glasses once, and instead of stepping on them I sat on them, as I had left them on my bed.

I guess the bad news is I’m stuck at home with Covid. The good news is that I don’t get to go out in the insanity before the weather hits.

@Ineeddentures — our weathermen are befuddled. Zero to 200 inches.

Sounds like you have a trip to the eye doctor in your near future for a new prescription. I'm sure there were, but I can't think of any right now.

@just4him I need to look at other helmets, Although a lot of bikers do have the same issue I have an open face helmet for the summer but last year I got hit by a stone thrown up by a lorry so it wasn't great But glasses went on and off with it with no issues

Luckily I bought another pair already Same prescription Bit I don't want to wear them on the motorbikes because that's how they break, So I was going to use the pair I lost for driving, and the other pair for stuff like going out etc without the bike

Aye Just hearing the crunch was a bit alarming and I knew straight away what had crunched But on the plus side, they were only mislaid and not lost

That's really sad. We've had such things happen but I can't remember any of them. It's a pity you trod on your glasses. You should look where you're going!!

I should have been looking where I was going. But I don't look at the floor on the house normally

Too bad you broke them but at least you found them and no longer need to be bothered by them being missing.

Yes very true I do not have to beat myself up about them being lost. And as I stood on them I won't be beating myself up about breaking them either

That is called a bittersweet experience. At times I drop small items like tablets of medicine on the floor and while searching I step on them!

Bittersweet indeed I drop small medicine tablets on the floor, and then hurt myself trying to get up off of the floor after I pick them up. Pulled muscles lol

Oh no! I'm so sorry. The bad news is that there's a big storm coming; the good news is that I don't have to go out in it.
