It's Music To My Ears (the sound of snow blowers and shoveling)

Happy Monday Everyone! greetings from the winter wonderland of Pennsylvania. We have at least 14 inches of snow with a bit of ice mixed in. The snow crew is here and I woke up to the sound of the plow going down the street and snow blowers. Looks like we'll be dug out by sometime later this afternoon. There's 100 houses here in my community so it will take them hours to clear the driveways and sidewalks. Guess there was no arguing whether we got enough snow for them to come out I'm doubly happy to say that our power stayed on. It went out a few times before midnight but it came back on pretty quickly. I was certain I would wake up during the night and it would be out. Nope So, I get to enjoy my nice hot coffee this morning (and it tastes extra good) while I chat here for awhile. What's going on with you today? How's things in your little corner of the myLot world?

No plows or shoveling. I did see a pick up drive down the street, so the roads must be passable at least. It is sunny and close to 32 so hoping for a bit of melting, even though the air temp is low the sun is strong.

From what I've seen/heard on the news we won't see any melting anytime soon. It's just too darn cold today and for the rest of the week, Hope your mess melts with your balmy 32

That must have put a fright in you with a few stop and start power outages. I’m also glad to hear they came to plow you out of your neighborhood! Our sidewalks and parking lot are still covered, so I probably won’t be trying to get out until Wednesday when my next doctor appointment is. Even then, I’m hoping he’ll do a telehealth appointment. My dad was too stubborn (and felt bad about me being lonely) to stay home yesterday so he came over and watched half of a football game with me. It was nice to see a friendly face. Lol

I’m glad you never lost power. I’m baking all the cookies my little one and I made batches of yesterday. Keeping me and my kitchen nice and warm. I’m so glad we didn’t get that ice mix you got we just got snow

Baking cookies certainly sounds like a good way to enjoy the day, keep your house warm and smelling delicious. You're lucky you didn't get the ice mix in between the snow falling. It just made removing it a bit harder,

We will be getting two plows and two sidewalk shovelings due to the amount of snow. Did I mention paying twice as much? Ugh!

Thats a huge disadvantage having to pay 2x for them to come and plow and shovel. I'm assuming you're talking about CT and not Florida

@DianneN I bet you were happy to be watching them work on your ring camera. I can understand that you are reluctant to fire them if they do all your other mowing, etc in addition to snow removal. It's really hard to find affordable, reliable companies these days. We've changed companies here through our HOA from when I first moved here. The original company did an excellent job but the HOA complained that they charged too much and went with a cheaper company which just didn't work out at all and now we have this company that I would say is just mediocre. But, as long as they get rid of the snow and keep the landscaping looking nice I'm happy especially since they haven't raised our HOA fees.,

@Marilynda1225 We just saw them on our Ring camera plowing and shoveling the sidewalk. We’re just thankful to be plowed. I told hubs I didn’t care what it cost. It was a lot of snow this time. We did tell them not to plow if the snow was under 3 inches. The sun usually melts it the next day. My son refuses to use them anymore, because they are money grabbers. If we could find someone else in our area who does residential plowing, we’d leave them in a minute. Unfortunately, we use them for mowing and our irrigation system.

thank God you didn't lose power for too long cause you would have been with another story to tell. We didn't lose power & we don't have any 1 to plow the snow away so we just have to wait it out till we can get out which will be awhile.

Did you get a lot of snow? It's going to be freezing cold here the rest of the week so there's no chance anything is going to melt. Glad you didn't lose power and are ok

@2ndchances24 You got more than us and I doubt any of us are going to see green grass before Valentines Day or even later.

The plows went through twice yesterday clearing the streets (or mostly clearing them). There are still a few places that cars are spinning out driving down the street in front of our house. I can see one vehicle in the ditch at the end of our street. Different people have looked at it but they still haven't done anything about it. We're snug in the house and planning on staying inside until we're forced to go outside. I'm glad you'll be able to get out and about soon.

I hope no one slips and slides and crashes and of course gets hurt. With ring cameras so popular I'm sure we'll be seeing lots of sliding cars and people on videos., I'm glad I don't have anywhere to be so going out isn't a big deal. I can wait until the end of the week if necessary.

14 inches of snow, that is a lot of snow indeed It's great that you will be dug out soon. Glad that your power stayed on. Coffee is a great idea, I might go and have a coffee now. My world, oh dear My garage got broken into. Nothing stolen which surprised me

I'm certainly glad nothing was stolen from your garage (especially your bike). If they didn't steal anything I wonder why they broke in uhless they figured your were hiding some of those yummy Reeces trees

@Marilynda1225 I have been trying to work it out as well and I have drawn a blank. Why would anyone cut the lock and open the door at 5am. And then not steal anything. Reeces, in the fridge. Yummy indeed.
