I did something yesterday I have not done in over a year!

I had the day off yesterday, so I practiced guitar, did some editing on my book, and...finished up a pair of guitar sound hole coasters. Those of you who have known me for awhile will remember that I like to make coasters out of discarded sound hole cutouts, sent to me by guitar manufacturers like Collings, Martin, and Santa Cruz. I occasionally sell them for $25/pair, but mostly I give them to friends, especially friends with whom I play music. That way, my music friends won't forget me, even if they want to. A couple of weeks ago, I found a pair that I had started, but never finished. I think they were buried under some stuff on my kitchen counter. I put on a few new coats of polyurethane (so they will not warp when exposed to moisture) over several days, and finally started applying the felt bottoms. I attach the felt bottoms with a glue gun, and have to do it bit by bit, so the edges are clean of excess glue. Yesterday, I found my best pair of scissors and removed the excess felt from around the edges. Voila! I will attach a photo of this pair, sitting on my desk. Do you have an "arts and crafts" hobby, unusual or not, that is relaxing for you?

Oh, thank goodness! I was really afraid you'd stopped taking your monthly showers! Somewhere either in the kitchen cupboards or out in the garage, I have a candle making kit and bags of different colored wax tabs and scents that are used to make loose, in-the-jar candles. (I save and clean old candle jars and reuse them. I have a dozen of those in my bedroom closet right now that I found when the construction crew was doing all that work here this last summer.) I still have the glass box on my dresser I use to hold burning candles in so there's no chance of anything catching fire if I fall asleep while a candle is burning. I just haven't felt like making candles since we moved into this house over 9 years ago.

I like candles. But I just make sure I have ONE I can look into when the need strikes me.

@TheHorse I ran out of candles a couple of years ago. Pretty doesn't believe in buying candles when the money is hers.

@DaddyEvil So you have to buy them? Oh well. They're not that expensive.

You did it to completion. You're very generous to keep your friends not to forget you.

@Nakitakona I have a cynical response prepared, but I'll save it for another time.

@TheHorse That's good. It reminds me a passage from the Book of Acts in the Bible that says '"It is more blessed to give than to receive"

I used to but not so much anymore. My hobbies now involve tormenting my keyboard.

I encourage people to actually use them. Most do not turn into "potato chips."

Good job. Since my hands are so arthritic, I gave up the crafts and needlework.

Crocheted bears
I can tell you put in effort to make those coasters. They look professional. My hobby is doing crochet. I make stuffed animals for my granddaughters and the neighbour kids. They love them. Here are a few bears I haven't found homes for yet.

I loved to crochet to relax, I still have my crochet hooks, but I have no yarns at all right now. I am reading a lot more than in the past.

I never learned to knit or crochet. My reading has dropped off since it got chilly out. I like to read at the pool.

@TheHorse More the watch face, I can order a Seiko mod kit and build a beautiful watch for 75 bucks as opposed to 350 for the same Seiko movement and quality

cool. I do diamond painting. I am working on one for my best friend. It's a steampuck girl. I also had bought a paint by number kit last year before Black Friday. It's a house in woods scene. The paint by number kit will be hung up in my living room once it is finished.

@TheHorse You place little rhinestones on a canvas that has numbers and symbols. It's like paint by numbers and cross stitch.
