I Made It!

Well, the Big Ice Storm is over, although maybe I should say the *storm* is over. The ice will be sticking around for a bit. There's a very slick-looking patch at the bottom of our driveway that I hope doesn't cause any problems. I'm just extremely happy that the power stayed on straight through, which was my biggest concern.
While we were cooped up inside, I did a very sweet and sentimental art project. I took copies of old photos of my mom and her family when she was a little girl and collaged them onto heart shapes that I cut out of cardboard. I decorated them with paint and stickers and cutouts and then made them into a garland with ribbons that I had. I've been trying to use up supplies that I already have, and so these were all "ingredients" that I had on hand. I love the way it came out.
So, I made it (through the ice storm), and I also made it (the collaged heart garland).

It's so much fun and gives a great feeling of accomplishment to make something with your own hands, doesn't it?

@AliCanary I should look for photos of my Mom as a little one, too. One of the ones I saw was her in a little snow suit (she was Canadian).

That's a lovely creation of nostalgia. I'm glad your power didn't go out. It's going to be a long time here before the s**w starts to melt.

Same! My interview was supposed to be this afternoon, but it got rescheduled to next week because they have a lot of ice and snow in the parking lot. I guess they didn't feel it was safe.

Thank you! I went ahead and submitted this piece for a gallery show with a "love" them, and it was accepted, so that's neat.

cute garland. We had power throughout the storm too. We had a little bit of snow, sleet, and ice. We had frozen pipes, but that is fixed now.

I'm glad you didn't lose power, but sorry about the pipes. Glad that got corrected quickly.
