Firefighters from Anne Arundel County and Annapolis Fire Department answered an emergency call from an eyewitness who saw a brown Labrador retriever who was in Luce Creek in Annapolis Maryland on Monday morning.
The creek was frozen over when cold temperatures caused the creek to freeze over and trap the dog when the firefighters used a Stokes basket on the surface of the creek to get the dog out of the creek safely,
The dog was likely taken to an animal hospital to be treated for the time spent in the frozen creek and likely placed up for adoption or hopefully reunited with its owner.

@Ineeddentures If the water is just about ice, then I shouldn't imagine it would take very long for an animal to freeze.

Wonder how long it would be in the water for before that happened

That is true since I know what it means to be under cold weather as well as hot weather.

It must have been a difficult rescue, requiring the stokes basket to avoid further injuring the dog. It would be safer for the rescuers to handle a frightened, cold dog that way too.

That could’ve ended badly - glad everyone stayed safe, especially the pup!
