Pharmacies

First, if you have zero pharmacies, and you do not need a single medication, my proverbial hat is off to you. I have three pharmacies. One is CVS which has been known to drain the life from me. I have to use them for a certain doctor because when I found a better pharmacy that doctor said he didn’t like pharmacy switching, and he “strongly suggested” I keep them. Then there is one that is 45 minutes away. They are the closest pharmacy to me that makes one of my particular prescription. Finally, my main pharmacy is now Walmart Neighborhood Market. Whatever you think of their stores, their pharmacy has been excellent. What about you guys? I tried Walgreens once, and it ended with me filing a complaint. Loooong story.

We used the local Walmart Pharmacy for years and years and they did okay... Once in a while, they'd mix up my meds or give me somebody else's meds by mistake. We switched to our current pharmacy when Walmart couldn't deliver our meds because I get two that have needles with them. (Apparently, they don't trust their delivery drivers to actually deliver meds with needles attached. When I complained at the Main Office, I was told to switch pharmacies.) Luckily, there is one other pharmacy in our city and they would deliver everything.

That is so sad they can’t trust delivery drivers like that.Well, more like pathetic.

@AmbiePam A lot of places are saying they can't trust delivery drivers anymore, especially in large cities now.

I would tell the doctor that it's my choice which pharmacy to use. I have all of mine mailed to me anymore

The health practice I have Beengoing to has a pharmacy on site. They are cheap and good.

@AmbiePam It is, however I wonder what is going to happen when I switch doctors. I asked about it before they said I can still use the pharmacy but one of the doctors at the practice, has to approve the meds. That seems strange but I guess they want to keep control. Hey, I will do whatever to keep the cheap pharmacy.

I'm lucky that I've had good experiences with both CVS and Walgreens. Since my part of Medicare changed in Jan I had to switch from CVS to Walgreens. I can't believe that you have so much trouble with the pharmacies you deal with but hopefully the Walmart one continues to be excellent.

Oh, I know it. Once, CVS gave me a medication with no label.

@AmbiePam I had the frustration of them emailing me that they filled a prescription and when I go to pick it up its at another pharmacy 20 miles away

That is interesting, I didn't even knew doctors cared about where you went to get them, or about switching and all. We only have one in town(in our grocery store), or would have to go to Walmart/Walgreens in the next town over. I only use the local one, except when I need more insulin syringes then I go to Walmart.

The doctor who is picky is really inefficient. I bet he is one of the very few who cares that much.

@AmbiePam Can't really say, but that would be frustrating...

We don't have any such strict rules and guidelines about pharmacy here. I get some medicines ordered online by 1Mg. Most of our frequent requirements are taken care of through home delivery by a pharmacy in our neighborhood. It's convenient here.
