Poetry Time: Never To Return

Hello again everyone. How are you doing? Thought I would share another poem that I wrote. This one was written many years ago, like the others I have shared lately. I think this is one of my favorites of my work. Would love to know what you think of it! Never to Return: Burnt to ashes, Full of silent lies When tomorrow comes, We only say goodbye Yesterday is distant memories Chock full of what could have been When the new day dawns, We’ll never go back there again Why commiserate in sorrow, When you could touch the sun Burning across the seven seas When the future never comes

I'm glad you shared this. It really got me to thinking about how fleeting the days are but we have memories.

@celticeagle I am glad. I have many more, may as well share them here since nobody has bought my book and it's been published for over 10 years now. I'll earn more here than ever did not selling the books hah...

Is this talking about “yesterday”? And what does “Chalk full” mean? I just remember the chalk used on blackboards when I was at school, which was eons ago. I thought it was quite a skill to write on these, in a straight line and at an awkward angle.

@MommyOfEli2013 Ok, I did mean yesterday as in the past. So I think I got it. And chock full makes sense to me, although we brits would probably say “chock-a-block”. Sorry if it seemed like I was picking at it, but when I was doing English Literature back in my school days (a long time ago), my teacher would give us poems to read and then ask us to dissect them to try to understand what the poet was thinking when they wrote it. Good stuff!

The poem is talking about the past...not sure what you mean by yesterday? I always thought it was chalk full, I guess it is actually chock full - but that means like to the maximum capacity, full, crammed, etc

@Orson_Kart Just never had someone try to do that really...but that is cool to have someone try to figure out more about it. I don't really remember why I wrote it, or what I was thinking as it was ages ago when I did. Now I am not sure what that means - although you are saying it's what you'd say in its place lol.
