I didn’t realize this was a “thing” until I came upon a “whisker catcher” to review. I didn’t know cat owners collected the whiskers that fell off their cats as a keepsake. Is that something a lot of cat owners do?

I have never heard of such a thing. Why would someone want to keep whiskers that have been shed?

Apparently, it’s sentimental?

@NJChicaa I had wondered if I just wasn’t “getting” it because I have a dog instead of a cat.

@AmbiePam If I've never opted to keep my cats' ashes then I'm certainly not going to keep their whiskers.

That sounds truly unhinged to me. I love Gracie, but I don't want her whiskers.

I have never heard about this before. Checked on the Internet and here is what it says Yes, many cat owners keep their cats' whiskers as sentimental keepsakes. Collecting fallen whiskers can serve as a way to preserve memories of their feline companions, especially after a cat passes away. This practice is often seen as a ritual, where each whisker collected adds to a cherished collection of memories Additionally, some owners believe that these whiskers bring good luck, further enhancing their sentimental value.

I understand but having a whisker and that was all would upset me. I swept up a whisker from the floor this morning! Beau has a huge amount of long whiskers. Natives used whiskers as sewing needles.

That’s a great way of getting use out of them.

I never heard of that, but I still have a brush with a few hairs from Doodles.

I've never heard of this. Sounds pretty bizarre but there are some very strange people out there!
