I remember hearing this song a couple times then suddenly none of our stations were playing it. To me it was one of the best songs back then. Thank heavens mom let me watch the Smothers Brothers back in 1967 when they featured Jefferson Airplane. I found out in 1969 that this song had been banned almost everywhere. It's a shame cuz I always thought it was their best tune.

@rebelann It’s working and I’m such an idiot! I know that song extremely well. I probably saw it on the show and can’t remember I’m surprised it was banned, but it would be appropriate for the people today who use mushrooms and whatever else they use.

I did a “banned songs” list, and this was one of the two songs on the list inspired to some degree bt Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Maybe that book was what they were trying to ban! That’s a good tune, BTW.

Perhaps this band was not famous enough to have traveled to Europe, many of the bands from the 1960s never went to other countries.

@rebelann - This is true in the 60s only very famous singers and band traveled to Europe.

I suppose that does make sense, I doubt the Jefferson Airplane band ever played anywhere overseas back in 1969.
