I Had My Interview - Finally

My job interview initially got rescheduled because we had gotten an ice storm, which I mentioned in a prior post. It was originally slated to occur on Wednesday, January 28 but was rescheduled to yesterday, Thursday, February 5th. Over the weekend in between the two dates, a major snowstorm hit. A steady, all-day snowfall dropped 14 inches (I think that's about 35cm) on our city. Fortunately, the power stayed on, and after a couple of days of warmer temperatures that melted a lot of the snow, my interview did proceed as scheduled. I had to face a panel of five people, who took turns asking fairly challenging questions. It was a bit stressful but not too bad, because they seemed like nice folks. I think they liked me, but I'm not sure my answers were all that great. Since they had other candidates for the job, I don't expect to hear anything back until next week, so I will keep you posted! If I don't get the position, it's okay. I will keep looking. Here is a picture I took out of my studio window as the snow fell. What looks like a river of white is a street!

I've had an interview before where I had to do a presentation in front of 12 people, with a PowerPoint and everything! I had never used PowerPoint before, but fortunately, I found a really good tutorial on YouTube and learned it that way.

I am glad you finally had your interview and I hope you can get that position. You still have a lot of snow.

@AliCanary - The past few days we had sun and clouds and it was not very cold.

Thank you! The snow has melted a lot. It's cold this weekend, but it will be warm in a couple of days.

I'm glad you made it. I'm also surprised it was done in-person, too. I perfer In-person, though. Good luck. Perhaps you're just being your own worst critic, and you actually nail this.

@AliCanary Talking to people on camera really doesn't bother me. But, then again, I can't tell if I'm looking in the camera. So they might think I'm not paying attention. I can't tell if I'm making eye contact either. At least when I'm in front of someone, I can look in the general direction and might make eye contact.

I prefer in-person, as well. Talking to people on camera makes me feel weird, for some reason. Probably just becase I'm not used to it.

I hope they select you for the job but, if not, you have a good attitude and I'm sure you'll get one soon. We had that storm go through here but it lasted several days in Missouri. It is all melted off now. (We had about 14 inches, too.)

@AliCanary I agree, it was definitely surprising how much snow was dumped across such a large area of the US. And yes, people buy Walmart dry when there's a threat of snow here, too.

It's just amazing how much snow it dumped. Sometimes we do get a lot, but it usually maxes out at about 8 inches, More often, it's just a flurry, but people still go buy bread and milk like they've lost their minds, ha ha

Yes, I don't mind the weather if I'm comfortable inside.

@AliCanary We've only ever seen snow when we went to Taasmania and that was only a little bit of snow. I've heard about how quiet everything becomes. And I always think many snowy photos look like black and white photos unless there is a bright colour in the photo somewhere.

Have you been in snowy places before? The snow makes everything very quiet. It's magical!

I hope you get the position. I hate interviews, ugh. So glad I am retired so now don't have to endure them. We are still buried under the snow, we must be further north than you. We have some above freezing weather coming so we should see some melt too.

Yes, I'm in North Carolina, so it's pretty mild, here, although this winter has been quite cold. Temps are in the 60s today but will be going back to the 40s after the weekend.
