On 10 December I wrote about planting out a punnet of butternut pumpkins. Nearly two months later and you can see how well the plants are doing. They have flowers on them but I don’t see any evidence of little fruits yet.
Sometimes plants put all their energy into their foliage and forget about producing flowers and fruit. I hope that doesn’t happen here. I’m holding my breath that my efforts haven’t been wasted.

I hope they sprout for you and we have lovely photos of a garden full of them soon!

I’ve never considered growing pumpkins. I don’t eat them and don’t make Halloween lanterns, so no need. They made headline news here last year when farmers crops failed because of the weather. I believe they need a long hot growing season with plenty of rain. We are having plenty of rain now, but not in the summer when it was required. In fact we had a drought last year. Flooding in places now!

Squash are weird plants at times... I hope yours grow a lot of them for you.
Mom always had butternut squash and also grew pumpkins in our garden on the farm... I will eat a small amount of raw pumpkin but absolutely dislike them cooked.
