I just don't understand the hype.

Everyone always says, the Super Bowl tickets are wildly expensive. Since I am not a football fan by any stretch of the imagination and never will be, I never really gave it a thought. Yesterday, an old friend I went to school with posted on facebook that her husband and his brother were leaving to go to the Super Bowl. They planned this for a long time, but still, they aren't wealthy or anything. She said they wanted good seats and bought the tickets a long time ago. The two tickets were $7,950 EACH. They had the expense of travel from Atlanta to California, hotel room for two nights, meals, and a rental car. The parking lot they had to use to park the rental car? $400.00 for the length of the game. Yes, you read that right, too. Four hundred dollars per car. I don't care how much a person likes football, I think this is beyond ridiculous. ''As of early February 2026, Super Bowl LX tickets at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara are ranging from approximately $3,200 to over $63,000 per seat, with the lowest "get-in" prices on secondary markets falling below $4,000 as kickoff approaches. Prices are highly volatile, fluctuating based on demand. 2026 Super Bowl Ticket Prices (As of Feb 8, 2026): Lowest "Get-In" Prices: Generally between $3,200 and $4,000+ for 400-level seats, with some listings appearing as low as $2,918. Average/Upper Range: Tickets frequently exceed $6,000–$10,000+ for better views.'' via google. I thought about this. With the other expenses, the two brothers are spending about $9,500 each to go see a football game. It's all about choices, I guess. This would not be mine, but evidently people pay big money for attending these games.

I could win a billion dollar lottery and I would never even spend $ 1 to buy a ticket for the Super Bowl. I know that people can do what they want with their money, but this is insane, help those in need instead of wasting money.

@MarieCoyle - I would feel ashamed, spending so much money when I know that there are people starving. I could never do that.

@LadyDuck I know we all think of these things differently, but I just think the cost of a few hours a football shouldn't be so ridiculous.

Thank you for saying what I wanted to say, Anna. So many people literally starving, I don't think I could do this even if I had the money or even if I liked football, which I don't!

There is no thype unless you can do it inexpensive. The people keep trying to push money and people just find ways,. We will enjoy it with out the greed.

I can understand that some people who love football dream of going to a Super Bowl. What I can't understand is that they would be willing to pay that much to see one game. Crazy.

I guess this is on the bucket list for some people. I couldn’t care less about seeing the Super Bowl in person. Even if I had the money, I’d rather spend it on something else.

So would I. It seems ridiculous to me, but it’s their own choice I guess.

Prices would not be so high if people were not willing to pay, but thousands of people obviously are. As you say it's a choice, not a necessity.

If they have the money and that's what they want to do with it, it's their choice. But in today's world with all the credit card debt so ridiculous, I have to wonder if many do not just keep charging things like this and then make payments forever.

As long as they don't cry 'poor' from time to time. Stuff like this wouldn't be my choice either.

I could find a lot better uses for $10,000 for one person’s cost!! Good grief! But it’s their money they can spend it how they want to. Just wouldn’t be my choice.

I don’t understand it either. I always enjoyed watching my son play football and other sports, but I am definitely not a football fan either. My husband is, but not fanatical about it. That is a ton of money to spend. I don’t get why they jack up all the prices.

I always knew that Super Bowl tickets would be expensive but it's really does sound excessive for just regular guys to spend that much money on the game. I guess you can't put a price on a maybe "once in a lifetime" experience? Certainly not something I would spend the money on even if I was rich. I hope they enjoyed the game and it was worth the money to them.

I guess if you have the money to burn it's OK; but I'd rather watch it on TV, sitting in my recliner, under my blanket.
