Smart phone calendar

If you use a smart phone, do you use the calendar? I've always been very dependent on a calendar, but for years it was a paper calendar. When I was going through cancer treatments, I had a huge monthly calendar on my bedroom door to keep up with everything. Well, I've been dragged unwillingly into the 21st century, so I started using the calendar on my phone. It was working fine until we had to buy new phones last week. While switching over everything to the new phones, the Verizon man lost our combined calendars. Stop and imagine if you lost every medical appointment, bill reminders, and all the important dates. Honestly, I was in full panic mode. A few days later he was able to restore everything. But everything was in duplicate. We just have to deal with it until we make new entries. That's just one nightmare from that episode. I hate technology. I'd rather have a not so smart phone. That's my rant for tonight. Hope you've had a good day.

I do not use the smartphone calendar. I still have a paper daily agenda on my desk and a wallpaper calendar. When I get up in the morning to prepare breakfast, I immediately can check if I wrote something on my wallpaper calendar. You can lose your phone, you can drop it and it breaks, paper and pen are still the best!

@1creekgirl - I had a problem with my phone last month of November. The apps did not work anymore, I had to reset to default and I lost everything. At least I arrived to save my photos and my contacts to my computer.

I may use my smartphone for all sorts of things but not for keeping track of my calendar.

That's probably a smart thing to do.

No, I don't use the calendar on my phone. That is one of the first apps I completely turn off when I'm setting up my phone. It's too difficult to use and keep track of everything. I write physical notes until the week I've got to do something and then I'll put an alarm into my phone with the name of whatever it is I need to do, the time I expect to do it and, if it's a person, place or thing, I list that in the alarm name, too. When that date/time is done, I delete the alarm. I LIKE most technology but they make some things too ridiculously complicated for them to be practical. I'm sorry you've had trouble and hope you don't have more trouble any time soon.

I use the calendar for my doctor visits and important dates. I have a paper one, but I hardly use it now. My mother also uses the calendar on her phone too.

I'm rethinking a paper calendar.

We've had this trouble too with technology. We thought we'd lost all our photos once.

That would be horrible! Did you get them all back?

Oh boy. I felt a little sick before you said he managed to get it back. Not that he made it convenient for you. I keep a calendar on my phone, but also one on my kitchen wall. I don’t trust myself not to mess something up.

That's probably a good idea to keep both.

We have so many apps one can use to set reminders. Along with the phone you can place them on your pc or use Alexa. Switching over phones can be a headache and if your stored info is lost or misplaced like in your situation, it can make one anxious for sure. Glad they were able to retrieve it. I use a calendar and memo pads to write appointments down still. It does make for a lot of paper notes lying around my office desk, lol.
