A bridge just because….

I’ve always wanted a bridge in my garden, but don’t have any water. So, I figured that streams dry up, at least the ones near me, so I decided to make a dry creek bed. If the photo loads, you can see the little bridge I bought from Amazon. Of course, our younger son had to be called when hubs and I messed up putting it together. He also carried it and placed it where I wanted it. I used black garden cloth to prevent weeds, lined it with rocks, and filled it with smaller rocks and some marble chips we happened to have taking up space in our garage. Hubs won’t let me put a little pond in my garden, so I have to be happy with a birdbath.

So it's not going to be a bridge over troubled water then? Ponds are a pain anyway Dianne. The membrane will stop the weeds right enough That's a lovely garden, is that a pink Flamingo I see

I was going to use that as my title. My neighbor diagonally across the street from me has a large pond that always need work, so I don’t need a pain in the neck from even a small pond. I haven’t seen one weed since I made my dried up creek and hope it stays that way. Oh, yes! I needed a touch of Florida in my garden. I have 4 flamingos

I would love a pond, but wouldn’t get one. It would definitely draw the wild animals out of the woods to get a drink of water and eat all my flowers. I will have to get my fill of water here in Florida and remember it.

That's cute. My first wife and I put in a gazebo with a pond and stream in our yard with another pond at the end of the stream and pumped the water from the lower pond back up to the waterfall at the beginning of the stream. We put small fishies in the lower pond (and had to replace them three times when a stork decided they made good lunches for him). We put wire netting over the lower pond to keep the stork out of the fish. He looked so frustrated after we did that. He stood on the bank of the lower pond watching the fishies swimming for about a week before he gave up. We put heavy black plastic under the stream and placed natural rocks on the plastic. The pond at the end of the plastic was heavy pre-formed plastic that was safe for fish and was resistant to sun damage. We added water plants to the pond, too.

@DianneN We sat out in the gazebo watching the water on the waterfall most evenings. We had to install electricity in the gazebo and a ceiling fan because mosquitos tried to carry me away. A running fan keeps the mosquitos from being able to fly. Our stream and pond didn't have mosquitos in them because they need stagnant water. One of our neighbors wanted a pond just like ours but didn't keep the water moving in theirs.

That sounds so beautiful and is what I originally wanted. However, I know the beasts that live in our woods and the other beasts who visit the pond diagonally across the street would have a field day at our house. And forget about the snakes! I will have to enjoy the water in Florida.

Very very nice and so pretty. I love wooden bridges and seriously thought about getting one when we had acreage.

Cute, why won't he let you put a pond in, is he afraid of mosquitos?
