Who’s that with Aniella’s mother?

Our son’s fiancée’s mother is head flight attendant for American Airlines. She travels all over the world as you can imagine. She has the craziest stories about passengers. Some have slapped her, thrown things at her, yelled at her, gotten sick on her, etc…. She’s also had some extremely kind, nice, and thoughtful passengers. One of the most recent was Sting, pictured together in the photo. Hubs and I have never been rude on flights, but have seen several kooks. I remember the Feds and airport staff boarding a jet and detaining a group of passengers in the back. Never found out why. How have your flights been?

There are more automobile accidents than airline accidents. It seems worse when a plane crashes due to the number of people killed all at once.

We never really met very rude people and we almost always had pleasant flight, except one with flight from Paris to New York with Air France. It was still when smoking was allowed. They let people walk through the aisles smoking. I was disgusted.

I remember when smoking was allowed on airlines, but I don’t recall anyone ever walking in the aisles smoking. Very dangerous, stinky, and easy to burn someone.

@LadyDuck We usually use other airlines when we travel to France, etc. We’ve accumulated so many air miles, but don’t really want to travel now due to terrorism and what is going on in the world.

Hey, it’s a bug! He Stings. I haven’t flown since 1989, so I’ve had no rude passengers and my luggage arrived in the same place at the same time as I did.

It’s easier to visit a variety of museums and see friends when you drive.

I recognized Sting right away!! Being a flight attendant is not a job I'd want these days. Seems like they have so much more to deal with compared to the "good old days" I haven't flown in ages but I do remember it being pleasant.

@DianneN my middle daughter was obsessed with Sting when she was a teenager. There's no way I wouldn't recognize him since her room was covered in Sting posters I remember getting dressed up to fly too. Now people travel in their pjs, have no manners or regard for anyone but themselves. It's really sad what has happened to common decency.

@Marilynda1225 I definitely agree with you. And common decency is lacking in society now. Movies, language, name calling, bullying, etc…… Huge sigh!

Glad you recognized him. I saw a documentary on him years ago. He had a tough life growing up. Travel certainly isn’t what it used to be. I remember dressing up to fly, clean white linens on the headrests, and good manners. Now I won’t even use the restroom on overseas flights.

Airports have not been kind to us. We're going to Phoenix this Fall to visit with daughter for a quick visit. I kind of dread the airport time.

I understand. What bothers me is getting there early and waiting and waiting. Safe travels.

I recognized Sting. He is a former teacher, and I presume a nice person to boot as most teachers are. The only really crazy thing that happened on a flight I was on, other than the time I sneezed on a Red Eye coming back from Alaska and woke up half the plane, was when Friend and I were coming back from Vegas, missed our plane and thought we on the right one..both were going to Washington, but different airports. We insisted we belonged on the flight to the flight crew..and they stuffed us somewhere on the plane. That was the plane I saw Bob Dole on. Anyway, when we got there of course..we were at the wrong airport, and they gave us vouchers for ground transport to get to the right one.

As a former teacher, I thank you. Karen, her mother, said that he was so friendly and kind. Cool to see Bob Dole on your crazy flight! Glad you received vouchers for ground transportation. That kind of happened to us. Our flight had to land in Miami, but we were going to Ft. Lauderdale. Long story short, but that’s when Pan Am went bankrupt. On another flight, we sat across from Ivanka T. What a downer she was.

I have only flown a couple of times so no stories. That could be a fun but dangerous job.

No stories is good. She wrenched her shoulder lifting someone’s baggage while trying to put in in the overhead compartment. She needed shoulder surgery and was out on workman’s comp for months and months.

I think that's a common things happening to those who fly. I have never board on an airplane.

There was a time when people dressed up and had good manners when flying. Now there is so little common decency everywhere.
