My rambles about a very long Monday.

I have never been overly fond of Monday's. They just don't ever seem to really go that well. Today was...very tiring. We drove through snow covered streets and roads to get where we had to be. But by 2 PM, the snow was pretty much gone again. Son had an appointment at 11 AM. Got him to that, it ended about 12:45. Next up, time for infusions and a transfusion, so of course it's way, way the other side of the city but I got him there on time. My daughter and son in law came because they knew where we would be, I went with them to the coffee shop next door and we had a coffee and a little visit. They brought the son a coffee drink and he enjoyed that. It was after 7 PM when we got home and for some reason, I was just wiped out. This makes me mad at myself--for some reason it doesn't seem as if I should be so wiped out, it's not like I was doing anything hard. Some paperwork, etc. while I waited. I am sure it's just that old evil stress that just has to rear it's ugly head sometimes, and I will survive! Still, it was good to get home. Tomorrow I only have one errand to do and it isn't far away. Looking forward to a quiet day.

You operate so much on your will to be there for your son. That’s exhausting, and you’re amazing for doing what you do. I really hope today is a relaxing day for you, and you get that much needed quiet and rest.

I don't consider myself amazing...I'm a Mom. I would do this for any of my 4 children, or for a grand. It's just what we do...you cared for your own Mom for years and I am sure there were many days that you and your Dad wondered if you could go one more step, or do one more thing...you've walked this walk, sweet lady.

Driving on crappy roads like that is nerve wracking and can be tiring. Visiting over coffee sounds very nice!

@MarieCoyle my daughter lives a half mile down the street. I love it. Soon her and her boyfriend want to move 30 miles away. I won’t see her as much and I’m not looking forward to it but we have to let them grow

It was nice, I went a long time with my oldest girl living far away. They have been here 5 years, and I still consider it special that they are here close by once again.

@shaggin My girl is 23 miles away from me. She lives on the very south end of the county and I live on the very north end. But it seems like nothing now, not after all the miles that separated us before! And she lives close to several of the medical complexes I have to take my son to anyway, so sometimes we are able to tie in seeing her then.

It really is. You would think after all of the times I've spent sitting in the hospital with the son, for appointments, for years of children and grandchilren's ballgames and cheering and such, and on and on..it wouldn't affect me like it does. But I don't think I am very good at sitting and waiting for long periods of time.

All in all your Monday sounds like it would be very tiring even though you didn't think you were doing a lot. Hope today (Tuesday) is a quiet one for you

@MarieCoyle I haven't moved super fast (or even fast) in years glad your day has been quiet.

I am not moving super fast today, but hey...I'm moving, which is all that matters. It's a wet, cold and gloomy day here, and has been quiet (knocking on wood!) Thank you!

@Marilynda1225 I went from flying through one task to another, to a crawl...it's just how it is.

I would be wiped out too and since Vince's operations, he gets wiped out much more easily than he used to. I'm sure these trips are emotionally tiring and stressful even if not physically so.

@MarieCoyle The last thing you'd want would be a hail-damaged car. These storms can come in fast sometimes.

@JudyEv Oh, they really do hit fast. There was some hail in the night last night, but not as bad.

Today, I didn't get a lot done. I ran my errand, swept the garage, and while I was doing that, a bad thunderstorm rolled in. I quickly got the car in the garage and the door shut as they said we could get hail again, and guess what? We did get hail. Luckily, not like the wild hail we had about a week ago, but I was sure glad to not take a chance. I had a short night last night but did manage a little nap today, and it felt so good.

Anytime I have a doctor's appointment, I'm exhausted when I get back home. Could be partially stress; but it's also my age. Pain-wise it takes me a day to recover from any outing.

@LindaOHio If I am on the run all day and not at home, it definitely makes a difference in how tired I get.

I am sorry, I know that must be difficult. You want to go out but it wears you out. No one really enjoys doctor visits.

Yes, it is. And stress just seems to make everything worse, too.

Waiting is hard, and often feels like twice as much time as it actually is. I don't know how you do it. I dislike Mondays more and more as I age. I usually work a longer day on Mondays only because I like to leave a bit earlier on Thursdays, and it works for me.

I can understand working later on Mondays to be able to get off earlier for your weekend. Most of the time, I am not worked up about waiting. But yesterday it hit me hard, how tired I was, the chair was hard and uncomfortable, etc. So I had to do a bit of whining in here...bad Marie! Haha

Waiting in hospital is stressing and we do a lot more than we imagine we are doing. It's normal that you were exhausted. I hope you can rest today.

I've not gotten much accomplished today, Anna. And I am not going to worry about it, just taking it slowly. Thank you!

You don't realize how much you do. Your day would have about killed me. That is a huge day that you describe plus the emotional side of it. I hope you do get a nice, long nap that gives you rest.

Honestly, I think it's harder to just SIT and wait than it is to be up and doing something. The time simply crawls when a person just sits too long. I get up and walk, come back, sit some more. I always bring a book. I am winding down now, tomorrow I hope for a nap! Thanks, Lenore.

All of that sitting in a hard chair...hard on the body, haha! No, I didn't get much accomplished. But I was where I needed to be, so it's OK. Thank you.

Crummy weather, especially on a Monday, isn’t something I enjoy. I suspect that the weather and being so busy made your day seem longer. Hope you had a relaxing evening.
