Do you ever write Haikus? Or other poetry?

I am bored with my... Drat! Foiled yet again by fate The world is so mean Kitty guards my feet She wants me to play guitar I will oblige her Wood chippers shudder Just a mild inconvenience The Queen does not mind I boil some fresh corn And then undo my latches My rent has been paid

I wrote haiku before, but it was for a poetry class. I don’t really write haiku or senryu. I prefer free verse to format poetry.

Good ones! Yes, I have written many and taught many how to write them, including my two sons. One was published.

I wrote poetry in high school. All the other times (since junior high) I've written articles, stories, a children's book, etc.

@TheHorse About a lot of different topics. I've done several on plastic pollution since that's a pet peeve of mine.

No. The only time I remember writing a haiku or a poem was when I was still in school, and that was only because our teacher required it.

We are entering into a poetry unit in fourth grade and we will be studying and writing various poems including haiku and maybe some limericks.

One of my favorite poems, that even kids could appreciate, is Robert Frost's Stopping By Woods On a Snowy Evening.

No, I never did, I enjoyed writing simple rhymes in Italian. And I enjoyed English limericks, like this silly one: There once was a holiday bright, In a place with warm sunshine so light, I traveled with zest, To a beach where I rest, And my vacation was pure delight.re.

@TheHorse Just a quick silly one. We had a great British member here in the past who loved to post Limericks.

I like these; I have written some but I prefer free verse—it's much easier to express myself.
