Do you like black licorice?

I think black licorice with anise in, is one of those flavors either you really like or really don't. I really enjoy the intense flavor and to me, it is a good substitute for chocolate. I just had some. This was fake stuff I got the Dollar Tree, so there is probably only artificial flavor in it, although they do have some authentic licorice with the anise flavoring there as well.it has a few more calories though. You have to be careful eating authentic black licorice though, as it can cause some heart issues..Likely due to the flavoring. I think as long as you don't gobble down a whole bag at once though you are probably safe. Black licorice, yay or nay?

@DianneN Same, It would be a lot easier for me to list the foods I don't like than those I do..the don't like list is rather short..only liver products of any type, canned beets, overly strong cheese, and probably most oysters, stuff dosed in too much cayenne..that is about all Ican think of at the moment.

@snowy22315 I guess. I’m usually not fussy about food and seem to love almost everything.

I never liked, but the doctor told my husband to eat a piece of licorice (real one, sold in pharmacy) when his blood pressure drops too much. Should you eat a whole bag of real licorice you would be in trouble.

@snowy22315 Yes, real licorice, particularly black licorice, is dangerous, it can lead to serious health issues like low potassium levels, high blood pressure, and heart problems. Candies flavored with anise and licorice are fine also for kids.

I like the black jelly beans as well. Not that much of a jelly bean fan, but black ones, and spicy ones are good, and some of those Jelly belly flavors.

I liked black licorice as a child, but it's been years and years since I had any. I honestly don't eat very much candy. It's not that I don't enjoy it, I do. I decided if I was going to indulge in sugar, I would have a dessert once a week instead. Weird, I know.

What's weird about it? Black licorice at least what I buy doesn't have that many calories in it. It is 4 long pieces for 100 calories.

@snowy22315 I think most people have a dessert more than once a week, at least a lot of the people I know do. I just limit myself and consider it a big treat to have one. I know licorice is very low in calories, for sure.

I can’t stand black licorice. I just hate the taste. I do remember a case of someone going to the hospital with heart problems, and no one could figure out why this young guy was having trouble until one doctor noticed his black tongue. He’d been eating nothing but black licorice.

My mom turned me onto it. I remember getting lost in a department store and afterwards sitting in the car with her eating black licorice..to help dry my tears

My husband likes black licorice more than me. Licorice leaves an aftertaste in my mouth. Licorice tea can be tasty.

Any kind of tea that has licorice root in it, has a sweet taste especially when you let it steep for awhile. Celestial Seasons used to make a delicious Cinnamon rose tea that had that in. It was the best tea I ever had in my life, but unfortunately they stopped making it. I have been on a quest forever to duplicate that taste. I have some kind of cinnamon spice tea now that has it in I think.
