You kids who hear this on the radio and sway along are in for a shock: this is now fifty years old. At least you have it easy. I remember when it came out!
Back to 1976 and another rocker.
Cowboy Song - Thin Lizzy
Hey, wasn’t this guy in last month’s countdown? Why, yes, thanks for noticing!
And yes, I decided to use this instead of the “big hit,” “The Boys Are Back in Town.” I like this better. And what else do you do after the boys get finished hanging around “Dino’s Bar and Grill” in “The Boys Are Back in Town” except go out and live like a cowboy!!
No, I don’t buy an Irish hard rock band singing about “the cowboy’s life is the life for me,” but dang it sounded good back then. It still does.

I was a fan of Thin Lizzy back in the 70’s, but I don’t remember this song?
Whiskey in the Jar, Dancing in the Moonlight, and Waiting for an Alibi, were my favourites. With Thin Lizzy, you were guaranteed lots of fantastic guitar riffs, plus Phil Lynott’s great vocals.

Yes, Gary Moore was a killer guitarist! I guess this did better in America, where we have the “cowboy” stereotype.

I heard him call out Sydney in the video.
Not why I used this particular clip, though….

Thin Lizzy are still played a lot on the radio over here and there are several tribute bands to them ….there are two in particular that are excellent. As I mentioned on your previous post that featured Phil Lynott, he was born in West Bromwich, the same town both of my parents were born and about three miles from where I live now. I go shopping there sometimes. There is a statue of him in the town,

I do remember that. I think it’s cool that they have statues of him in his birthplace and in Dublin.

I've heard of Thin Lizzy; but that's it. I don't recognize the song at all.

I remember Phil Lynott
I didn't particularly like Thin Lizzy, just not my gig but they were indeed very popular in the UK

They weren’t all that big here, just this album and mostly “The Boys Are Back in Town.” Pity, because I liked them.
