Group Texts

Do group texts annoy you? I don’t send them, ever. My dad was recently put in one from church, and it drives him batty. Once, someone sent me, and about 20 other people an I love you in a group text, and people kept getting mad at the people who were “replying all”. Others were cranky when asking to be taken off the chain. I felt badly for the lady who just wanted to tell a bunch of people they were loved.

@ambiepam I refuse to participate in those things. If I talk I only do so with one person at a time.

The neighbourhood watch WhatsApp is a bit annoying. People seem to lose cats every other day by us….then when it’s found you get 40 people sending thumbs up emoji …..phone is pinging away at a rate of knots and it’s just thumbs up. I know we are all pleased the kitty has been found ….but ….people get a grip !

The only group messaging I'm in is on FB messenger for business. But I have it muted. So I don't get annoying notifications. When it's urgent, and they want to address the message to me specifically, they only had to mention my name and I get an alert.

I'm not a fan of them either. My husband's siblings have one that they will use to send birthday greetings on or if they are planning something that we are all going in together on a gift, they will put the all call out for who to send $$ to, otherwise he is part of one for the mothers of some of the children who attend play group. They like to go to the same one on certain days and run it by each other on that chat.

I'm only in one group text and that's with my older daughter, my younger daughter and my daughter in law. My younger daughter is in a group text with her friends and I can see where it would be annoying. Sometimes we're trying to watch something on tv and her phone is blowing up with group texting (usually about nonsense)

Vince gets many more of these than I do which is a good thing. They'd drive me bonkers too I think.

I think they are beyond annoying. My kids hate them, too. I generally read the text through and then opt out. I rarely turn the sound off on my phone due to the son, his medical needs, and the fact that I have family I need to hear from. The only person I know that sends group texts is the ex--he sends them on holidays sometimes ( like to a gazillion people, Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksgiving, etc.) He never responds or interacts after his initial posts, so it's dumb to send them...the kids told him to stop doing that.
