Cleaning Advice

So I discovered what I assume is mold on a section of my carpet. It’s a long story, but it’s my own fault. It comes off a little when I scrub, but when I looked it up, I think they said to use vinegar and water, then get a dry brush. Does that sound right? The black stuff does tend to come off. The green does not.

AI says you can use hydrogen peroxide and baking soda as well. Hope you are wearing a mask, and gloves.

I saw hydrogen peroxide, but I was afraid it would turn the color of my carpet odd. Baking soda is a good idea too though. And it may be worth trying the hydrogen peroxide; thank you.

@AmbiePam Maybe try the peroxide in a corner or somewhere inconspicuous to see if it does affect the colour.

Do you have a fan you can use to dry it all out ASAP.? That will help.

Do a test spot on your carpet in an inconspicuous spot with the hydrogen peroxide. It will kill the mold.

I have read (though never tried it) that distilled white vinegar and baking soda would effectively do the job.

Vinegar and water is much safer and can usually be used on carpet and other materials. I used it a lot in my travel trailer, where I had a lot of mold from the humidity. The smell goes away after awhile too.

Is it mold or mildew? Fortunately, I don’t know what to tell you except mold is bad. That’s one thing we don’t want in Florida.

I also use vinegar and water. Sometimes it’s baking soda.

I'm of no help in this case. I hope someone else can come up with a winning combination for you.
