Green iguanas are large, herbivorous lizards that live high in the trees of Central and South America. They are excellent swimmers and can also leap from branch to branch. Their green colors helps them to blend in with their surroundings. Their diet consists mostly of insects.

@RasmaSandra My granddaughter liked it, too. But with the kids so busy, my daughter in law had to feed it and clean the cage. Not her idea of fun, since it ate live crickets and other critters.

Iguanas are running rampant in Florida; and they can't dispatch them fast enough. They are an invasive species and are causing all kinds of problems. Thank you for the information and video.

@LindaOHio sorry they are a nuisance, but since the warm weather returned i can imagine how happy they are not to be frozen.

We had one of those once years ago before my daughter was born. When I found out I was pregnant we gave it to friends. He kept our vegetable bin cleaned out.

@RasmaSandra .......Yes, and my adversion to having only one of something kicks in.

@celticeagle interesting to have as pets but you really need to know how to care for them.

No thank you. My fishies are enough for me to take care of day in and day out.
I also have my pet named "Pretty" that I had to take care of for years... I'm glad she can take care of herself now.

@RasmaSandra I think lizards do fine in a cage with something to climb on and a heat lamp, food and water. They're lazy critters and do fine in captivity.

@DaddyEvil then you are a busy man and yes, lucky you have Pretty with you. I on the other hand would like a lizard but I am afraid I might not be able to take care of it, I would not want it in a cage all the time,

@Ineeddentures but if I had one, I would not want to just keep it in a cage and of course, then if he was let free, he would mess up my apartment.

@JudyEv he is looking very thoughtful on that tree. I would not mind having one keeping me company but of course, then it would be lizard poop and piss all over the place.
