English schools are still closed

My kids go to English schools in the area.
On Tuesday, the English school board of the area said that schools would be closed yesterday due to the freezing rain being called for. As you can imagine, my kids were not complaining about that.
Well, this morning, the school board decided to keep schools closed because of the roads and power outages. I know my kids were hoping to have another day off. I think they'll be happy when they wake up.
When I took my dog out for a walk, I noticed a bus go by and some kids going to the bus stop. I checked the Frech school board and apparently most schools are opened, minus those dealing with power outages. I thought that was interesting.
Either way, I know my kids will be happy and I'm kinda happy they're home too. Roads don't look great and sometimes better be safe than sorry.

@DaddyEvil Honestly, I'm not sure how that will work. They may not have to do extra days. Schools don't work the same way up here. They may have to do an extra day, maybe not. Not sure.

@dodo19 Will they still be happy when they have to go extra days at the end of their school year to make up for snow days they missed?

You have the choice of which schools to send your kids to? Why wouldn’t there just be one school system that teaches both French and English? I find that very interesting!
I don’t know if you follow hockey, but the Habs are beating up my favorite team in the playoffs right now!

Yes, we do have the choice. I'm not sure why it's not all under one school board. But we also live in Quebec. So ... either way it is what it is.
I don't really follow hockey, but I did hear the Habs won a game the other night, which is good. Sorry they're beating yours.

@moffittjc I think most might be sending them to a French school. We have the option considering that my husband went to an English school. It's weird here.
We'll have to see how things go between the two teams.

@dodo19 I figured with it being Quebec that there would be an option for either French or English schools. Is there a balance between the two, or do most people send their kids to the French schools?
The Lightning won their game last night against the Canadiens, so the playoff between the two is now tied at 2 games apiece, with three games left in round 1.

Oh, such a relief to have them home and know they are safe. So the other schools had their power.

I hope your kids enjoy their day off. I usually have my grandsons when there is no school because of snow or freezing rain and he's always happy. One thing they do here is if school will be closed for a few days they do Non Traditional Learning meaning the teachers send their work throught the student portal and they do online school, so to say.

I'm sure the kids will be happy to be able to stay home and I do agree that it's better to be safe than sorry. Freezing rain does sound like it could cause a lot of accidents,

Will they have to make up those lost days of school as we did?
