Hey, tired of songs you’ve never heard of? And bands you’ve never heard of? You get a one-day reprieve from that!!
First we start in 1986, as I’m alternating years to begin with. Can you believe this has been 40 years?
Kiss - Prince and the Revolution
And to make you feel even stranger about the passage of time, next month will mark ten years since Prince died.
This song is so 80s (“You don’t have to watch Dynasty to have an attitude”), but it’s also so timeless. And it has such a great put-down line in it: “Act your age, not your shoe size.”
One of the best and biggest hits from one of the powerhouse performers of the 80s.

Ain’t no particular sign I’m more compatible with:

@FourWalls I think I am only in kindergarten when I heard that song or grade 1.

My beloved sister absolutely loved Prince songs. Her very favorite was Raspberry Beret. I strangely received a raspberry beret as a gift, and absolutely knew it was meant for her, so it went to her as soon as possible. I can still see her in my mind, swaying and dancing to that song, and wearing her raspberry beret.
Once again, thanks for the memory.

That’s the story of my music life: give me three days and I’ll give you something you love, something you hate, and something that’ll make you go “what the heck was that??”

I know, it doesn’t seem that long. And he was a dynamic performer. I didn’t like all of his music, but he was never boring in his concerts.

@FourWalls Same here. I liked a few of his songs and found his concert performances impressive.

I know. Both counts. Maybe Wendy gave him that little look because she was thinking “I should be wearing that top, not you!”

Wasn't familiar with this one; but it was good. I love 1999 and Little Red Corvette too.
