This is a prominent landmark in Riga, Latvia. Located on the Bay of Riga at the mouth of the Daugava River, this lighthouse was constructed in 1956 and stands 35 meters tall. It serves as a crucial navigational aid for ships entering and leaving the port of Riga, reflecting the area's rich maritime history. It is the one I have seen because we lived in the capital, Riga. The lighthouse is accessible to the public, allowing visitors to explore the surrounding area, which includes scenic trails ideal for birdwatching.

@RasmaSandra Me, too. I'd never go up in one because I'm scared of heights but they still look cool.

@JudyEv you are right; it is ideal for a jigsaw puzzle. If you're interested I found this info online
Puzzle Garage: Features a collection of carefully selected jigsaw puzzles, including those of Latvian landmarks.

That's a beautiful lighthouse! When I went to North Carolina on vacation to Nags Head, I visited their 4 lighthouses. They are cool structures!

@shaggin no, it is a photo I found online. I don't remember when we went there, or if I even took any photos at that time.

@DianneN it is in a place where you could walk along the Daugava River. When you are ready to travel I hope there is still a world to settle.

@RasmaSandra I have been ready to travel for years, but terrorism, the pandemic, and now this stuff, I will rather be home and gardening.

That's a fine looking lighthouse Sandra
It's quite tall
Does it have a light house keeper now or is it fully automated?
