How high will gas prices rise?

I drove past one of our local gas stations yesterday when I was running errands, and drove past the same place this morning. We are now over $4 a gallon locally. This adds up in a big hurry. While having my coffee this morning, several news sources reported that it could possibly reach $200 a barrel before long. I just can’t imagine!! I realize my state has a higher gas tax than some, but sheesh. California and Hawaii are of course the highest in the nation. If gas rises to over $5-&6 per gallon, will it affect how much you drive?

We would only go where we absolutely had to. Unfortunately my husband has a 30 minute drive to work.

@MarieCoyle Living in a rural area the drive to get to most places is just too far. I am glad that we are content to spend time at home .

@Tampa_girl7 For the most part, we make no unnecessary trips right now. I already drive enough that I have to drive, so any additional just isn't practical right now.

I can understand that. It will affect your family a lot, for sure.

Oil barrel price was up about 20% from $ 98 a barrel. Analysts fear that it could go up to $ 200, that would mean a price at the gas stations of over $ 7 per gallon. Our government has cut the tax on gas for 20 days so that we can continue to pay the old price. We filled up.

Over $7 a gallon will be just insane. I honestly don't have a lot of hope that it will go down anytime soon. I would positively love to say that I do think it will, but... It's good that you filled up now.

@MarieCoyle - I remember the oil crisis of the year 1973. In Italy we were forbidden to use the car during the weekends. You could only use the car to go to work. I hope not to see this situation back.

Gas prices are insane! It's about 1.85$ a liter. It's crazy expensive. It makes me glad that I don't have a car at the moment.

I don’t know how much higher they’ll go, but I do know that I feel like a stinking genius for buying a hybrid two months ago. Those things are going to jump in price and drop in availability as the gas prices increase.

I thought of you with your new hybrid car when I saw that gas price this morning. You made a great choice!!

Thankfully we don't drive very much anyways. Most stations yesterday were at 3.76. Seen a couple a little bit lower. But before he started this crap all were under 3 dollars

We were under $3 for about 2 weeks in some spots before the war. Not now, for sure.

The higher prices are having an effect here already.

It's affecting the world in general. Amazing the damage just one certain person can do, isn't it?

My dad has been paying for my gas lately, and really doesn’t mind since I don’t go far very often. Now, HE is on the go and needs to refuel much more than me, but he wouldn’t complain. He’s really philosophical about those kind of things.

My daughter and a few friends are planning a road trip for this summers vacation. With the daily jump in gas prices they're now considering a vacation closer to home. I think our gas prices jumped about a $1 this week but we aren't up to $4 yet.
