Are there any products you use solely because your parents did?

Growing up, my mom used Tide to do the laundry. When I moved out, I automatically used Tide. I never even considered any other laundry detergent. My sister will only eat Del Monte green beans because that’s the kind my mom bought for us. Others can be cheaper, but she won’t even try another brand. Did your parents use a particular brand that you automatically use now?

No, none that I can think of. My parents were strangely loyal to Plymouth cars. I’ve thankfully never owned one of those!

Plymouth Valiants were the bomb. Not unusual for them to go 100,000 to 200,000 miles.

I use Purex to clean my clothes in the laundry since my late parents used Purex.

Yes, there is. My Dad grew tomatoes for Campbell Soup, when they were in Canada. As a result whenever any of us were hospitalized, he would ask at the nursing station what we'd eaten that day, and usually there was soup for at least 1 meal, he would then proceed to ask if it was Campbell's Soup. Its too bad that Campbell's didn't bat an eyelash when they closed the door to the tomato processing plant which fed many many families in our region. I just don't like their chicken soup, or their broth, it is too salty and I buy the President's Choice brand.

@Marilynda1225 That's sweet of you to say. I knew so much about the different varieties of tomatoes, and what was good for certain things before I was even a teenager. They used to produce Prego spaghetti sauce with those tomatoes also.

My grandfather, my father and two of my uncles all worked for Proctor & Gamble so all we had in our house was products made by P&G. To this day I still buy mostly P&G products.

I only have Birdseye frozen petit pois …I have tried other brands , as The Mister points out they are cheaper. But they are also not as nice. Maybe since it’s what my Moms always had I have just grown so used to the taste I don’t like others. The same with Heinz baked beans and soups….

I used to when I moved out of my parents' place. Their brands were familiar so it was easy to stick with them. I still use a few things that my mom gets: Lawry's lemon pepper, Palmolive dish soap. I'd still be using the Kirkland Signature powdered laundry detergent, but that was discontinued. And... that's really about it. Budget constraints made me choose generics over the name brands she bought in a lot of cases. In a lot of cases I just decided to try other options and found something that worked better for me than the brand she always got.

I think my grandma (who raised me) used All most of the time. But I remember it was usually whatever was cheaper. I am an off brand person most of the time, but I will not get off brand soda unless I absoloutely have to.

Some food products like bumble bee tuna, Heinz ketchup and Hellman's mayo are staples I use. With the economic conditions I have been forced to substitute sometimes and wait for them to be put on sale.

Yes, they have been using Purefoods corned beef for many years. It’s the brand of corned beef I used to eat growing up, and I still use it to this day.

For frozen food like bacon and hotdogs, we only eat PUrefoods because it was the brand our parents trusted. And our tastes buds only like those from Purefoods. I remember back in the 90s my mom used only this particular brand of soap and that's what we used until it was no longer in the market. I tried googling for it but it's non existent as if we were the only family using that kind of brand. Sounded like Moncler or Montclair.

No. Mom loved Charmin TP. I can't stand it! The older I got the more I realized how much Mom relied on food stuff like Bisquick. I've never used that product.
