Are you nuts about nuts?

Vince brought home these packets of nuts. They were given to him on Batik airlines. One is Spicy Salted Caramel and the other Cacao Cinnamon. It’s funny how ‘salted caramel’ has become flavour of the year and turns up everywhere. And to pad this out a bit: Vince’s brother travelled 500 kilometres to join a boat cruise hoping to see orcas (killer whales). We’ve just heard that one woman became so seasick they’ve had to return to port after only going about halfway. The passengers have been given passes to take the cruise within the next three years. I feel sorry for the woman and hope she’ll be okay but it’s still very disappointing for the other passengers.

I am so sorry they had to return to port because of the sick woman. I imagine the poor woman was really sick. I love nuts, particularly almond, hazelnuts and walnuts, but PLAIN!

@JudyEv - I am pretty sure it was more than seasickness. I like almost all nuts.

I think it must have been more than just 'common' seasickness for them to return to port in such a hurry. There are some nuts I quite like but most seem to stick in my neck.

Those nuts look so good. It does seem to be a salted caramel year for many things. That poor woman who was sick. It would be disappointing too. She must have been so severely so.

@JudyEv My oldest daughter would get sick on boats, so when we went on a cruise, I was concerned, but the light pills she took helped a lot. I can't imagine someone so severely ill. That has to be dangerous.

It must have been more than simple seasickness.

@noni1959 My uncle joined the navy during the war but was so seasick he was invalided out. It affected his ears and balance.

Yes, I love nuts of different kinds and flavorings. Oh, that's too bad! I guess the boat didn't stock seasick meds for the passengers.

@JudyEv I would guess so or they wouldn't have done that.

The woman must have been very badly affected for them to dash back to port like they did.

Not much nuts about nuts. Great that they got passes but it surely is disappointing to turn back halfway.

The tours are actually likely to be cancelled because of the increased cost of fuel.

. I love nuts and both sound really good. That's really disappointing about the cruise even though I feel bad that that woman was so seasick they had to turn around and go back to port. Even with 3 years who knows how many of those other passengers will be able to take the cruise again.

Exactly re taking the cruise another time. I guess if they don't, then they do their money. I think the woman must have had some other issue other than just seasickness.

@JudyEv I would think that woman had more issues than just seasickness. I doubt the cruise would have returned to port otherwise.

@Marilynda1225 That's true - and they came back at speed so it must have been something a bit worrying.

I enjoy nuts of any kind but mostly unflavored. How disappointing for them.

I've felt a little queasy but no more than that. I believe seasickness makes you feel really, really awful.

@JudyEv I think it can. I went on a cruise with friend once years ago..and he didn't get sick from that, Of course those ships are a lot bigger and more stable though.

Are you saying nuts are expensive there? I don't buy them as they seem to irritate my throat.

I am nuts about nuts but in moderation. If they are fresh, anyone of them will do. I am prone to seasickness but mild symptoms only.

If it is too rough then I sometimes get seasick. I get carsick if I read but am okay in planes (big ones) and ships.

That's too bad about the woman getting sick. I'll bet she felt really guilty about the cruise being messed up besides feeling physically bad. She must have been in a very bad state! I hope she recovered. I love salted caramel flavor, but I don't know if I could handle the spicy part. Put me down for the cinnamon cocoa!

What a disappointment. I feel sorry for the woman; but also I'm sorry for the other passengers. I love nuts...lightly salted.

The cruise wouldn't have been cheap and even given three years grace, some people wouldn't be able to make the trip again. Perhaps they could ask for their money back.

I’m actually surprised they turned around for her. How does a person not know and/or prepare for being seasick?

It must have been more than just the usual complaint for them to hightail it back to port. I don't think they'd turn around otherwise.

Over here what we have more common is groundnuts and am super crazy about them. They are sweet with certain biscuits, sweet with bread or roasted plantains

I haven't heard of groundnuts. Nuts can be very versatile.
