Think about it. You may have heard this song this week. And it’s sixty years old now. See, music is timeless! Let’s continue to celebrate my birthday with a look more birthdays, these being the 60th anniversary of great songs from 1966. Here’s where we start! Ain’t Too Proud to Beg - The Temptations Oh, like I’m supposed to say something about this song? What’s the point, you’re up dancing to this song and not reading a word I’ve written! One thing you’ll notice as I go through 1966 is how incredibly diverse it was. Despite the horrors we were living with during the Civil Rights era, the music was integrated, with whites having no concern at all about the skin color of the people recording great music like this. Here we are, 60 years later, and we can still dance to this timeless song! Ain’t Too Proud to Beg Written by Norman Whitfield and Eddie Holland Recorded by The Temptations From Gettin’ Ready, 1966 Keeps you from walkin’ out that door:

I have twin cousins who loved the Temptations. I remember them playing this album nonstop, and yes, this song will get you moving!

@MarieCoyle -- oh, I remember that!!! That was written by the man who wrote the lyrics for The Music Man, which of course Robert Preston was in.

@FourWalls My cousins were older than us, and truly beautiful girls. They were in to keeping fit and exercising, and they lived with us for several years. Another ''song''--if you can call it a song, that I remember is the weird recording we called ''Go, you chicken fat, go away''...and it always caused fits of giggles. It was strange and ridiculous, but as little girls we thought it was hilarious!

The Temptations were a fantastic Motown group, second only to The Four Tops in my opinion.

@FourWalls Absolutely! I also love The Supremes. Just to keep the gender balanced.

I can’t argue with that, or the greatness of any of the 60s Motown.

@FourWalls I used to listen to one. But what played in the 80s doesn't play now on it

You also may have heard different versions of it, because it has been remade dozens of times, including by artists like The Rolling Stones (1974) and Rick Astley (1989).
