MRI Results Came This Morning...

One of the nurses from my GP's office called this morning and told me I needed to call the neurologist's office and ask that doctor to review the results online and ask if they could move me up in the queue for treatment. Apparently, some of the ventricles are enlarged but the doctor also found other problems that require more timely intervention. (The nurse didn't tell me what the other problems are although she did say they couldn't see any brain-bleeds anywhere.) I am starting to worry now. I hate it when they don't give us all the information and make us ask Doctor Google since Google always gives us worst case scenarios. When I called the neurologist's office, I got a voicemail that said the box for the doctor was full so I had to call back this afternoon to leave my message. The outgoing message says they'll call back today as long as the message has a timestamp before 2 pm. I called and left my message at 1 pm, so just waiting for a callback. Now, you're all caught up with everything I know. Thanks for listening.

Nope. That's what the outgoing message said. I'm still waiting for a callback from them. It's almost 4 pm here.

@TheHorse I agree.... They never called me back today. Like they're hoping I'll forget about my problems if they don't call back.

@DaddyEvil Heh. I am still waiting for a callback from my knee doctor. It's been several days. Sometimes I think they just want us old folks to...move on...

@wolfgirl569 Thanks. Pretty said to wait patiently. I'm sure she's right. After all, they must have patients who need the doctor more than I do.

Thank you. I had an incident last night that scared me but everything worked out okay. I was reading while listening to a favorite YouTuber when the words in my book didn't make sense. I skipped back a few pages and tried again but I still couldn't figure out what the words were. And the guy I was listening to didn't make sense, either. I knocked on Pretty's bedroom door and told her what was happening... She said there was nothing we could do about it right then so I came back to my room. A little bit later, she knocked on my bedroom door and then came in, telling me she was going to turn my overhead light on and looked directly at my face... Then said I wasn't sagging on one side and everything still looked okay. She was checking to see if I'd had a stroke... Thankfully I hadn't. After she left, Speedy was making sense again so I checked my book and could read again. Pretty came back to my room and said those were all signs of the hydrocephalus. I told her I could read again and she said we'd keep checking and call the doctor if that happened again.

@AliCanary Me, too. I don't want it to affect me at all. I wish my neurologist's appointment was sooner.

@DaddyEvil I'm glad you didn't have a stroke! That's the first thing I thought of when you said things didn't make sense. But the fact that you were able to make sense yourself when you spoke was a good sign. This appears to be affecting your Wernicke's area (speech recognition) as opposed to the Broca's area (speech production).

Though I don't understand the medical terms here, but can guess the problem you have is serious. I would like you to visit or call the doctor himself and ask them if the problem is serious.

This is a holiday weekend in the US. Doctors won't go back to their offices until Tuesday, IF they aren't taking a vacation right now. It's better not to make the doctor upset with you as a new prospective patient until after they give their opinion on your symptoms and the medical evidence. She will call, I'm sure, when she has time. Edit to add: Let me break things down for you in a more understandable way. The MRI showed parts of my brain are enlarged, which shouldn't be the case, if I wasn't having a problem. Ventricles are the folds in a normal brain. Some of mine are swollen but the doctor can't see any other problems. Enlarged ventricles press against other parts of the brain and can make thinking harder, can overrule the body on how it is running and can press on nerve bundles and cause problems like my always swelling eyes.

@Shivram59 You're welcome. We thought all the problems were caused by my overactive thyroid gland. We didn't realize I was suffering symptoms from two different diseases at the same time until I fell and got hurt. (I fall a lot but have only been getting hurt lately. Most of the time I stay close to furniture or walls/doors I can hang onto if I get dizzy and feel like I'm going to fall. Twice now I've fallen and had to go to the ER.) The overactive thyroid has been causing problems for 15 or more years. The hydrocephalus was just diagnosed after my first fall but the ER doctor said I started having problems from that a few years ago.

If the diagnosis is correct, they're talking brain surgery to add a pump and hose in my skull to keep the fluid build-up down. The hose will go from my head down into my abdomen to drain the extra fluid. Thank you. I'm very worried.
