Footloose

By 1984 all of my excess energy was spent on dancing, either in some of the clubs around New York City, parties I was invited to, or just at home grooving to my favorite music. What I really loved this year was music from the movie Footloose and the really danceable song "Footloose." That beat came on and Kenny Loggins started singing, and I was out on the dance floor and so footloose. “Footloose” was co-written and recorded by American singer/songwriter Kenny Loggins. It was the first of two singles that came from the movie of the same name. The song rose up on the charts to number one and stayed there for three weeks. And speaking of "footloose" as a word, it means to being free to go wherever one wants, without responsibilities or commitments, and wouldn’t that be a great life? Did you like Footloose?

First of all, your picture put a great big smile on my face. Secondly, I absolutely love the song, Footloose, but I never saw the movie. I remember they did a remake over ten years ago with Julianne Hough, but it bombed.

@AmbiePam if you can find it watch the original. Remakes don't really do original movies justice. Glad the dancing cats put a smile on your face and you have to admit that in life cats certainly are footloose as long as they have loving owners taking care of them.

I have some fond memories of dancing to that song in my early 20's when I was finally allowed to go out to dances.

@RasmaSandra I wonder as well. Harper, in particular, loves it when I pick her up and we hold hands with our arms out and I will turn in a circle and she leans back and just loves it. I used to do that when she was a baby and she is still small enough that I can do it now. She and Willow both love to stand on Daddy's feet and dance across the floor with him. I used to do that with my Dad, and it brings bag such fond memories.

@Juliaacv I hope they have some dancing with children's songs at school. I remember in kindergarten we all got in a circle and skipped around to Skip to my Lou.

@Juliaacv makes me wonder what kind of dances Willow and Harper will enjoy doing.

I only remember the song and loved it. I wasn’t allowed to go to clubs to go dancing. My father was very strict. Actually, I only went to a club during my DIL’s bachelorette party. I did lots of dancing at parties, Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, and weddings.

@DianneN one of the craziest things I always wanted to do was get a group of people together and try to dance across the USA of course not all at once but you get the idea,

@RasmaSandra I also danced on the deck of our beach clubhouse. Does that count as clubbing?

The song "Footloose" is good but the characters in the movie especially the authority figures turned me off.

It was a great movie and the dancing was good. I had the soundtrack and I listened to it on my Walkman!

I loved this film. Loved the intro with all the feet dancing and loved the film itself.
