Beat the Heat.

How to beat the heat? It's Wednesday morning here and the sun's up early. Not much cool breeze in the early morning. I think other than the fan and the frequent cold water sips, I might need to prepare cold snacks later for me to feast. Turning the AC on will make the electricity bill soaring high. What do you do to beat the heat?

We eat more sandwiches in the summer or switch to "sandwiches" made from lettuce leaves or spinach leaves rolled around meat without bread. Both of those are good with chicken or beef. (Just get a large leaf of lettuce or spinach and put a slice of meat and a little mayo on it and then roll it up. Use a toothpick to hold it in shape while you eat it.) You can dip a washcloth in cold water and wear that around your neck and refresh it when it gets too warm to help you. Eating watermelon slices is always nice in hot weather since they taste good and help you stay hydrated. Berries are also a good choice for snacks in hot weather. We stay in the house during really hot weather but we also run the air conditioner, too.

@rakski Is it too hot to grow watermelons in the Philippines? Or local farmers don't have any available yet?

I have the air set just enough to keep me from sweating inside the house. I also wear as little as possible when possible. I also stay in when it's extreme.

We don't have centralized AC, but the fan is making me cool now. And yes, I do not go out when it is too hot

We need the air conditioner going to beat the heat. We turn it off when there’s a nice breeze during the day, but turn it back on at night. We can’t sleep well otherwise. I hope you can get some relief.

@rakski At least you have an A/C to help you sleep better. Glad to hear it.

I feel for you, when summer comes around, even spring, my electricity bill gets very high. I just can’t take the smothering heat and humidity. I put my bottles of water in the freezer, and let them get ice cold. That helps along with putting a wet wash cloth on the back of my neck.

When the temperature goes up, I avoid cooking, we have cold meals. We are lucky where we live, we do not need AC.

Sometimes if there isn't A/C I put a damp towel round my neck. If I have to be outside, I wet my hat. That helps a lot.

I think wearing light coloured clothes is one of the remedies. In calcutta it is raining heavily for the last 3 days. Here getting wet is a bigger bother
