Local business owner ruined his own business.

I say he's local, but he has a restaurant in the nearby city, and a food truck as well. I have not eaten any food from either establishment, but it did have high reviews and was very popular. Until a few weeks ago, that is.
One night he was frustrated with his dog, and took the dog out to the country and dumped it. That's right, he just dumped his pet. He was not aware he had been seen doing this. The dog was scared of course. A local rescue finally was able to get the dog, limping badly from a bad cut on its foot. It was discovered at the veterinarian's office that the dog was microchipped 2 years before, and who owned it. Yep, the owner of the restaurant and food truck.
This news spread like wildfire here. The main gist of it all was people telling others NOT to support his businesses, and his customers nearly disappeared. The owner then got on his social media, etc. with a long and lengthy apology on how he realized he did the wrong thing, there was no excuse for it, yadayada...now he is having a fund raiser for our local Humane Society--by selling his food at full price, of course. This isn't working for him, either. People seem to think he should make an immediate donation, and to do it out of what he already has, not off of the sales he would get from the promotion.
He asked the rescue people for his dog back. They refused. After the poor dog heals, he will be adopted to someone out of our area, on the remote chance the former owner could possibly see the dog at some point or hear of who adopted it. He goes to court in a few weeks, and feelings are strong that he should never own another pet.
I absolutely abhor people who dump or mistreat their animals. I can't help it. In rescue work I have helped in so many bad situations. It's time for people who do things like this to not ever, ever be allowed to own another pet.
Having a pet is a lifelong commitment. Pets are not disposable.

Absolutely, I totally despise anyone who mistreats a pet, well any animal for that matter. It's a commitment for the lifetime of the pet, if you don't want to do it, don't have one..If things are horrible, and can't be fixed allergies, etc. bring it to a shelter if you can not get it adopted.

Like you said, there are places to take your pet if it absolutely doesn't work out to keep it. He made a really bad decision doing this.

@MarieCoyle I’m quite aware of that and of the morons living in our world.

Dianne, I didn't mean to be preaching at you. I am just mad at him for doing what he did. And I have to admit, even after years and years of seeing this type of behavior from people, I still get upset over it.

Pets are dependent on us. They give us so much love. Dumping them somewhere is not an option. I've heard every excuse, like ''oh, I dumped the kittens close to a farm, they can be barn cats'' or also heard that people dump dogs the same way--near a farm. They seem to think farms can just absorb extra pets. It doesn't work that way.

I cannot tolerate people like that. I guess right now I have a good stituation, The guys living downstairs have soem cats and one of them a nice orange cat loves to explore on the roof. He comes in through my bathroom window and sleeps on a shelf on top of some towels and stays most of the day, Today I let him out the door knowing he will return home for food and drink so it is like sharing a cat with no fuss or muss, I let him out with a nice piece of smoked sausage,

I'm glad you have a cat coming to visit. You'd enjoy the company I'm sure.

I loved my late dogs for the length of time they were alive. I would never abandon a dog.

He really did destroy his own business. I suspect he will have to pack up the food truck and move fairly far away and change it's name, for it to work out for him. And the restaurant is empty, from what I've heard. He really did it to himself.

They should never be dumped. Too many places you can take them if you can't find a new home for them. I wouldn't buy from him either.

I agree that having a pet is a commitment and they aren't to be dumped somewhere. I hope that poor dog finds a loving family who will adopt him.
I hope that guy never gets to own another pet EVER

That guy is certainly learning his lesson now. What he did was very, very wrong. He can't make up for his actions really. He wouldn't have done anything if he hadn't got caught.
