Bob was released this evening because his hemoglobin was stable. Still low but not needing another transfusion at this time.
Basically all findings are negative.
No gastric bleed.
No heart attack.
Afib stopped on its own.
The hospitalist conferred with the oncologist. NO leukemia, No MDS. His appointment was pushed back to April 27, to see what happens with his hemoglobin. No one has any idea why his hemoglobin trends down lately.
The cardiologist said no heart cath at this time because he will have to be on antiplatelet medication after and with low hemoglobin that will not work.
Kidney function is stable at Bob's baseline.
PT/OT said either 24/7 home care (me) or skilled nursing. Stand by assist. They would really prefer he also use a walker.
High protein, heart healthy, high iron diet.
Activities as tolerated.
Good to be home.

Probably follow up next week with the primary care, and of course more labs. He has had so many blood draws in the last three weeks I am not surprised he is going anemic. I am completely unemployed now, so he will see lots more of me.

I'm glad he's home and with good results from his tests.
And how are you feeling right now?

I am tired, of course. Looking forward to finding out for sure that VA will make me his paid care taker. If his energy was up we would be able to do some small adventures.

@GardenGerty Yes, I figured you'd be tired. Worry can make you tired and so can long days waiting in the hospital.
You know I'm always wishing you and Bob lots of luck and keeping you both in my thoughts.

I think if they quit drawing blood his hemoglobin has to improve.

I do hope you are able to become Bob's primary carer. It's pretty much all good news. At least nothing really bad and scary.
