These are a fun type of strawberry called Pineberry (white strawberry), and many think they are unripe but that is the color they are when ripe.
They need a buddy, so we have both red and white strawberries mixed and already a bunch of runners and tiny strawberries are forming.
When they are ripe, they are pale white with red seeds. Since they are white, birds overlook them. We still have to fight the wild bunnies, so these are in tall raised wooden planters.
Washington has a lot of wild strawberries but you rarely get to pick them with all the critters getting to them first.
These white variety are from South American and brought back into popularity in recent years.
Other than planting our roses, jasmine, fig/apple/ and cherry trees, Irish moss, mums and a few other plants and trees, these are the first of anything edible. Still a lot to get done but feels so nice to see a bit of landscaping beginning.
On the 17th, I go to get stitches out and mentioned I will pick up a couple tomato and peppers. My son gave me the look since he has about 20 inside growing in the hdro-whatever it's called thing and he needs to transplant outside.
Do you have a garden yet?

It sounds you will have quite an impressive grouping wherever one happens to look!
My dad’s wife is an avid gardener, and she already had some lovely daffodils bloom. It was such a pretty sight. She’s got a lot left to see come to fruition though.

When we get home from house-sitting the weather will be much more conducive to gardening. I'm getting keen about planting more plants. I need things that aren't affected by chilli thrip. It must be very satisfying to have some many plants starting to take shape.

I had never heard of pineberry before, and when I saw the picture, I thought "Those look like strawberry leaves", so it made sense when I read about them being a kind of strawberry. The white fruit with red seeds sounds neat!
