I want a buddy to go with me.

Do you ever have a boring road ahead of you, and you wish you had a buddy with you to help pass the time? In the next few weeks I have a host of “fun” doctor appointments ahead of me, and I want a buddy. Way back in the day, when we were trying to to find out my health problems (and I was bleeding my parents dry with medical bills), my mom (pre dementia) went with me to my appointments: scans, biopsies, endoscopies…she kept it all tolerable. Well, at least she doesn’t have to witness that now. (cue bittersweet moment) But I still miss having a Buddy when traveling a melodramatic medical road. I get tired of my own company!

I can understand you would prefer to have company on these appointments. If I expect to have wait in waiting rooms for an age, I make sure I have a book of puzzles with me, or a book to read. It's not as good as 'people' company but it does give you something to do

Yes, I need to remember to bring my crossword puzzles. My phone gets boring after awhile.

@AmbiePam I try to keep a book in the car too, in case Vince takes an age in a shop or whatever.

There is no doubt in my mind you’d be here if you could.

That's why I always have my phone with me coz whenever I'm alone and needing someone with me, I would just message a friend. Hope you could have a buddy with you.

Hubs always comes with me to important doctor appointments. When I go alone, I always bring a book or play games on my iPhone. I never have long to wait usually.

I do my best to get appointments first thing in the morning. You don’t wait as long when you do that. But when they start running tests and doing scans time just drags by.

@AmbiePam I can imagine that it would. The one good thing about our hospital system, who my doctors are a part of, is that they are very supportive of patient wait times and leave plenty of time to spend with doctors. We are scheduled for lab tests and anything else like an ultrasound for a different appointment. I schedule appointments right after their lunch times.

I know what you mean. Just really need another person to share the "good vibes" or "bad vibes" with. I wish my husband could go with me every time but he's got work. If we were in the same town, I'd be willing to accompany you to the doctor's.

My daughter is my caregiver so she goes along to all my doctor appointments. It sure helps. And, I have my phone with on a full charge. That helps too.

I can understand that. Regardless of the length of the journey, having someone there alongside us is often invaluable. I feel that way about the travelling to BC this weekend, but today I got a travel buddy, and I wish that I were closer to you as I would accompany you. If you cannot find someone, bring a special teddy bear and talk to him, it might sound silly, but it might make a world of difference, if you can hug it when you park the car and hug it again when you return.
